Well i was going, had my flights booked, etc, but have been advised i have to attend a conference on that weekend now, buggar it!!! i was really looking forward to it, hope you all have fun?
30 entries for the Sunraysia 500 as at the 23rd Aug. What is going on?? This is a National and a State round (VIC). We all get concerned if one of our State (NSW) rounds only gets 30 entries, and start wondering if it is worth the effort by promoters for so few competitors. Hopefully the Sunraysia may get some more late entries.
I think Marilyn is actually reasonably pleased to have that many at this stage, there is usually a huge rush right before entries are due to close. I would suggest there is still the potential there to get another 20 or so entries in yet.
hmmm, Navigating for Aztek, wonder how my stomach will hold up...might join the legendary ranks of the helmet pukers (gary & werner, &). At least it might blend in with the paint scheme!
Top 10!....far out man, have you seen the entry list? Never have I entered a race where I've felt so out of my depth. Best we can hope for is to finish.
For some reason the 10min re-fuel between laps has been dropped as well, we now have to re-fuel between laps in our own time.....hope we don't run out of late time!
Top 15!!! I'm getting queezy already! Lets just take it easy and aim for say, top 40. Hey bug, I heard not only is he taking a new passenger, but he is getting some promotional pics taken for a book. Looks like you do make your own luck!
az has such luck with media! Roll overs, Trees, busted axles... Nobody has spilt more blood, diff oil, paint to promote our sport! At least still shots cant break the car!
Top 50%?

aztek so you have to stop for fuel and if you get a flat tyre you will run out off late time why do thay have late time you start at 9am and the start control closes at 3:30 pm and the finish control closes at 5:35pm. If it takes all day to do two laps what does it matter. why should there be a time limited on sections.
If the John Hedriks 4WD is all in good condition after the safari, I would be putting my money on him to beat Colin Hunter and to aslo finish well up in the outright order (top ten). He is an unbelieveable driver and the car is very quick.
Thought Azteck or Slow might have responded by now. Just a quick run down while I have time. The dust was unbeleivable, brown snakes were coming out of hibernation, and did I mention the dust was bad! The Campbells had a great weekend in the porsche, finishing 11th o.r., with a very worn gearbox at the end. Prout drove consistent all day, as did the Crowes...the results show this! Rentch was overheating, possible headgasket. Burrows was flying, but I heard upon 2nd heat restart his front dust lights were not working and had to repaired before being let out. Chappo may have nudged a fencepost (but rumours are known to be untrue...sometimes) Mickle had some brake problems, and caught in dust, but finished well. Caro and Grants finished, unsure of any troubles. Swan had gearbox problems and then possible headgasket problems. Azteck had fan belt tensioner problems, but the rest of the car was going well. Did I mention the dust? For what seemed to be a relatively smooth track, I was surprised to see so many d.n.f.s! The organization was excellent, but the track facilities could do with improvement (toilets, etc), but then again Mildura tracks have had many homes over the past few years.
Yes, Buddy did confirm that he had a spit in the morning section....
If it is true that mark Burrows was delayed from starting section 2 because his headlights weren't working, that is very harsh. I believe he was actually leading the event at that stage, so it is a massive penalty to have to pay for something so small. In all honesty, the only person who could possibly have been slowed by his lights not working would have been Mark himself. I was out in a lot of areas on the track and in the dust having lights on or off made no difference, if a car was in the thick dust you couldn't see them or the headlights. A win there would have given Mark a good shot at the title, whereas now through this delay he is out of it.
So Sean are you advocating that we interpret the rule differently for one person? When you are running an event you have to enforce the rules as they stand, equally for every competitor. Mark is no different to any one else and the rule was enforced correctly, unfortunate as that was.
