OK, including me I now know of 4 unfortunates in our sport to have joined the Helmet Interior Decorating Club.
Me, Buddy, Werner and Murray.
So here's your chance to dob in a mate. Who else has done it! (Cmon - help me feel better about myself!)
I know of a couple of close calls.... 936 being one of them.... And I also know of a driver who refused to stop when the navigator needed to stop for a toilet break...

Dubbo AORC Round 1985. Ian Irons navigator for that event was a fellow by the name of Arthur Smith I believe. He joined the HIDC on Lap 1 which gave me my first seat in an AORC Round. Sadly we hit a fence strainer post in the dust which resulted in our retirement after Ian was suspected of having a broken rib or something. Subsequent xrays in Sydney confirmed it. Yhis was 22 years ago so the HIDC has been going for a long time.
Poor Arthur 2 weeks prior to the run at Dubbo in a club race at COLO PARK,had retired from the racing before lunch. After he had enjoyed his sausages ,bacon and eggs ,I borrowed some fuel from his car & suggested he come for a run .He lasted right to the end of the last race of the day and as we crossed the finish line he filled the inside of his brand new helmet with his almost digested dinner. He came to Dubbo to navigate for me,and to make sure he was not going to be crook in the car again, the only thing Art ate for the 2 days prior to start of the race was an anti sickness pill. Thats what he bought up
