Does anyone no what we will see racing next year, any new cars, will some of the smaller national classes pad out, will the wolf ever see the track?. l see there are 2 new class 2 cars that debuted at the end of this year ( Travis Conrad & Mark Hubbard ) will they be at the nationals next year. Will Buddy Crowe have his new car for next season?. Which Robinson will drive Buddy's old car?. Is there any news (rumours) you guys might know that will enlighten the rest of us. What are you doing to your cars re-powering, re-building ect let us no. As for Dogs Life Racing we don't think we will be hitting the track until Gundy next year and it will probably be a two car team in class 2. One of our sponsors has caught the bug ( J & P DieseLec ) so we will be buiding 2 new cars instead of 1. Anyway back to the shed.
We actually spent a day in the shed this weekend! Well, actully in Paul Grants shed working on the lathe. We're very excited! It was the first spanner we've turned on the car in 5 weeks as we've been building a double story extension on the back of Ricks house including a much bigger garage downstairs to put the car in. Just ask Michael Hill how big the effing excavation turned out to be!
Rick's place is priority no 1 a the moment, we're working on the car when it rains. Funny that Im doing rain dances every friday night now! haha!
Rick and I are taking a couple of weeks off at xmas to put in a mad spurt on the car. It'll be the longest time off in 8 years for me! We're hoping to get it on the dyno in early Jan so yeah, we should be up for next year.
As for fast enough to catch 2204? Im assuming you mean user 2204, Kelvin? (His car no is 1104 now isnt it?) Prob not until we've gotten used to the car and worked out shocks, springs, brakes etc, but we're certainly going to give it a good shot at being faster than Kelvin, Jones, Pagey... in fact anyone with a prolite. Isnt that the goal? :)

I hear Geoff Roe should have his truck ready for next season, and also Paul Simpson should hopefully have his truck back and running.

Apparently Paul wasn't happy with some aspects of the truck, so he sent it back to the yanks to get it right.
Yep, Paul sent it back at the start of this year, otherwise it would have been running already. I heard a little while ago that it was just waiting on shipping back to Australia.
Yeah, I don't know for sure what he wasn't happy with, but I heard he just wasn't happy with the workmanship/finish of the car. I believe that he has purchased it as basically turn-key. I guess he figured that if he was paying all of that money, he was best to send it back rather then put up with something he wasn't happy with or he didn't like.
This is all second-hand and third-hand information, so I don't know all of the details.
troy tisdell (136) should have his nissan V6 single seater ready for round 1 of NSW championship at Kempsey next year.Only waiting on rear suspension components and car is a roller
Hi Guys, Thanks for letting me join this forum, there's some great reading. I have some questions if someone could help me please?
1. What would be the most expensive Class 1 car imported into Australia so far? 2. What make is it? 3. How much would a Jimco chassis only weigh approximately (for freight purposes)? 4. What sort of duties and taxes apply when importing a race car into Australia? 5. Did Paul Simpson end up getting his car back and was it to race or was it to just test transmissions he was building?
6. How much was Buddy Crowes Jimco? thanks in advance for any replies. LL

Can't really answer most of your questions, as a lot of people don't talk about the prices of their vehicles, etc. Safe to say there are a lot of very expensive vehicles, but a lot depends on how complete the car is when it gets here.
1. Who Knows... so many to choose from, they are all expensive. 2. ??? 3. The weigt doesn't really matter too much, as you would usually send the car in a container via sea freight, so you would usually use a 20' shipping container and you pay the freight based on that, unless the weight is very high, which it isn't when it comes to a car. 4. If you have all of the correct documentation, etc, you don't need to pay any duty on a car from the USA due to the USA-Australia free trade agreement. Part-wise it depends on the origin of the parts. Once again, all comes down to the right paperwork, etc. I work in this industry (freight forwarding, customs, etc), and have improted a couple of cars for different people. 5. ?? 6. I think only Buddy and his wife truly know this answer. And good luck to him, beautifully built car.
Thanks Trekka for the replies. I guess I have a bit more homework to do. Can you recommend a shipping agent that specialises in importation of race cars? Would a rolling chassis weigh more than 1500 kilograms? What range would a shipping container of about 1500 kilograms cost from LA to Aust? Approx only is ok. Also would it be out of the question for a new car Class 1 (turn key) to be in the range of $300,000 AUD plus? I have asked a few people already and can't seem to get a proper answer so I thought who better to ask than guys who would really know the answers and have been there. thanks LL
