shocks what would u use

hello im building a class 3 buggy its an old mcleod chassis with some mods
what shock set up would you run
note im on a low budget
ill be running a suzuki gti motor with combi box
beam front 2.5 inch arms but will grow to 4 inch soon i will also be using probably 1 torsion bar per side
on rear im running 5.5 inch arms with 28mm torsion bars

im probably going to use foa shocks
im thinking 8 or 10 inch front coilover 1 per side
and 12 inch smooth body side by side on rear 2 per side
this will only ever be a club car so i dont want to go to over the top
mounts will be made to suit shocks
im new to motorsport in the dirt ive done a bit of circuit racing in different things
ive only ever seen buggies run once at crookwell and it looks dead set awsome
what to do
i will send some better pictures soon when my wife shows me how to use our stupid camera if anyones interested

Hey Pro for the extra $15.00 Aus for the pair l would be running the 10" or 12" shock on the front if you are going to go to a 4" over arm. And the 12" woukd be alright on the back, but for a class 3 you would be able to run 1 x 14" remote coilover each side with springs for the same money as 2 x 12" each side. And to make mounting of the remotes easy try using the new piggy back tops.

If you want to keep the lower shock mounts have a look at JT's car - ex class 3 (Suzi GTI as well, now pro-class with a hair dryer). Its relatively budget and stupendously quick. Handles pretty well!

He won the last NSWORC round at colo in this car.

I think he's running:
Front
single 10" coil over per corner mounted off the lower arm.
Rear
dual 12", one coil over working in tandem with the torsion bar.

Note that if you run 4" front arms you pretty much have to run coil overs, and you cant mount coil overs on on a traditional front end, you'll need to add higher barwork for the mounts or the coils foul on the towers.

On our old rivvy we ran 2 1/4" arms with torsion bars for the first season and switched to 4" arms and coil overs the next. Nothing wrong with the original setup, Wayne and Daneen Horsfall are running that setup and it works great for them! Its very budget concious too.

Basically, if you've got it, run it! You can always upgrade it later.

Good to see keen people, I think you will like this sport!
Just a bit of history, this car was driven by Scott Davis in mid eighties, then bought by Matt Martin (slow),and raced in the early nineties (used to be metallic green, then yellow)!
Off road may also see the return of Gerard and Joe bawden in the future, building a new car together with procrastination (great name btw)...wonder who'll hit the track first?
Like wolf said, if you've got-it, run-it...just get out on the track!
