Three clubs have agreed to run "The NSW Long Course series" on the East Coast of NSW. Wittitrin 200 21-22nd June. Milbrodale 9-10th August. Warialda 27-28th September. Competitors must enter and attempt all three to gain points. More details later. Email address: fullers@ausnet.net.au
Bugger, would like to do that series, but I an organising to have a run at Finke, I don't think I would get a leave pass with Wittitrin 200 being so close to Finke.
Bloody brilliant idea. While were on a roll how about a NSW Short Course Series comprising Colo, Crookwell, Nabiac and Dondingalong? Could be a great way to breath life back into the Tri-Series and you could still have the Tri-Series as a Competition between clubs.
Scotts Hydraulic Services of Kempsey have picked up the sponsorship for the 2008 NSW Premier Long Series. (Thanks to Glen and Gordon) This means there will be a total of $3,000 for awards for the 2008 series. Milbrodale and Warialda also have sponsors locked in. This should be a very exciting and competitive series. More series details after the NSW Championship dinner this weekend in Newcastle.
Aaron, The rules for long course indicate that you must carry a UHF radio of at least 5 watts. It does not have to be an installed radio. My UHF is an expensive Uniden ($450 5 watt) which under normal conditions will operate over 10 km, but I cannot cover all of Wittitrin, so anything under 5 watt would be useless. I also have the latest mobile phone which does not work at Wittitrin!! Cheers Maurie
If you were using a cb in the car and one of your 5watt handhelds as the base what sort of distance would you get? Worth buying or would I be better off going bigger?

I got them off a mate of mine who's hobby is playing with radio's.They are not a brand name unit, but he has used them out in the bush alot and says for the money they are great value with good coverage range. i am yet to use mine as i never do any racing anymore but some day i plan to. I just got them because you have to have one. I plan to never use it at a race as breaking down and crashing is not part of my game plan. But i guess you never know...
