Depending on what skills and tools you have available, you should be able to build a basic class 5 car for around a grand plus the cost of the base car. To compete in all 7 rounds of the NSW Championship would probably cost around 4 grand depending on where you are based. For greater comfort add more dollars.
the shopping list you need and price. $2500 to buy a ute. around $500 to get a frame put in it. log book i think is $50. entry fee for a race around about $200. that times 7 = $1400. fuel around 600litres for a year of racing. 600L times $1.50= $900 on fuel. 900+1400= $2300. that means $2300 for a year of racing.
Don't forget to add you tow car fuel, so whack another 2 grand onto that depending on what you tow it with. I would say a season of state rounds minimum $5000.00 (not including extras like eating and accomadation if you don't like camping)
