Does this mean these buggies can race a Cams sanctioned off-road race i.e. short course, stadium, club or state round etc...

These mini buggies are for TORC events only, they are not part of the Off Road we know even thou they use a national off road licence. they compete at their Kynten, Vic venue as well afew other "special" events around Vic.

If a Club was started in Sydney, there would be no reason, with the CAMS regs for their vehicles, why they could not run at a track made for them at COLO PARK, on their own or in conjunction with our Club days. Each would have their own permit for the day,the same as the 6 cylinder class & Off Road Racers at Kempsey & Crookwell did.

Gday guys

Just to clarify where we are at here.

The regs that have been ratified by CAMS for belt and chain drive buggies are national regs. You most certainly can run these machines as a seperate class within SORRA or any other CAMS sanctioned race meeting. I see no reason at all why they can't be run under an existing permit as long as it is noted in the permit that these buggies are running and must meet a different set of regs (TORC regs).

CAMS doesnt want to see them run alongside full sized buggies unless they have been specifically designed to meet the same regs your machines currently meet.

We currently run 2 days on our permits with 2 totally seperate diciplines on the same permit and they both require different levels of compliance.

The Social days allow members as young as 12 to run smaller machines in a totally non competitive manner with the level2 licence. The race day allows 14yo and up to run competitively on the same licence.

We run this whole weekend on the same permit with no extra cost to permit fees.

We were, up until a few months ago required to have a Nat03 offroad licence which has been overkill for us and now run level02

Brett (BSG) should have a list of potential runners in Sydney and should be able to promote it in the area if you would like to get a class together to run at your event. Even if you just dip your toes in the water with a few machines to see how they go.

CAMS in Victoria understands there is a place for chain and belt drive machines in the sport and will be happy to co-operate with clubs wishing to get them up and running. TORC will give you any help we can to see buggies on the track in Sydney as we can see it ultimately being the meeting point for interstate competition on the east coast.

If I have left anything out or you want more info please dont hesitate to get in touch
