I Have some good news to announce that Griffith Will be applying for a National round next year. Just got home from a club meeting and we decided to apply for a national round next year. It will be a new exciting format of 700km endurance race. Just wondering if NSW would be intrested in running as a state round with our event..
I think that's great. I prefer the flag to flag, means that good prep & smart driving will get you to the finish. Will AORCom allow you to do it though, don't the rules say that a race must be more than one section.
is it going to be the old track with a new loop section or totally new track, this is exciting news 700km flag to flag now thats racing.
It will be based on the old track (not the same), should be a bit rougher/tighter, and not as fast, with 9 laps of approx 75km, probably starting/finishing at the blue dot speedway......all on sunday!!!
lets hope it gets approved, great track and run by a great club, can't wait to race there again. jonesy are you going to get the chickens out of the car and bring the subi out to play?
Be great to see Griffith back on the calendar, I have always enjoyed going there, and I enjoyed the track the one time that I raced there.
Be interesting to see what they will do with the events next year... will they try to stick with five races, or will they expand back to six to fit in a race like Griffith? I guess they are the decisions for the powers-that-be. I don't envy the decisions that they have to make. I guess there may also be a couple of other events looking to try to get a National next year as well.

The chooks were all taken by a fox. And I have actually started working on the buggy, Skaza has re-dynoed (great job BTW), another radiator should arrive tomorrow (hopefully stop the overheating), and testing saturday ready for Milbrodale! With a little persuasion, I reckon Andy Ryan might go to Milbrodale, that would add to a huge pro-lite field!
Guess I will have to keep the buggy now that I have a local race again!!!!
l hope this race gets the go ahead as a national as it is only 16-17 hours from home. Even if a national is not possible for next year please run it as a great turn out of cars will be a given. BTW Jones is there camping in your back paddock for the Northern travelers.
sorry this is off topic a bit: but the excitment that this race and to some extent nabiac 4 hr produced is it time to go away from heat racing and have more enduro races the satisfaction of just finishing these races is like winning.
Heats vs enduro is a subject for a new topic I reckon.
Re Griffith, love the concept of 700km race, some tight and twisty, some fence runs etc. The one time I ran griffith was in the nav seat with Slow and loved it.
What would the time restriction be? at an average of 100km/h it'll be a 7hr race, and depending on when its run may be starting or finishing in the dark.
Re the interest in the NSW component; whats the thinking? 3 of the 9 laps (225km) as NSW component? More? Less? I understand if this hasnt been considered yet, just after more info on whats been discussed.
Will camping at the track be allowed as in previous years?

Nsw component can be as many laps as they want to run. We are very negoitable as it easy to fit the shorter distance into a lap format event. We all just need to try and get our AORCOM representatives to give us the heads up.
Jonesy, is that a Chrysler Centura on your logo? And if so is this the logo for the event?
Are you saying there is something wrong with Centuras? No, its not the logo! Careful what you say about chryslers, the griffith track runs through Kells farm, and he might even get the Val out for another race!
We need this event to go ahead!!!! We need to show our support of this event by lobbying your AORCOM commissioner. They are the one s who will decide on whether this event gets the green light or not. This event ticks all the boxes as far as i can see. We need a flag to flag event in our calendar, something that has been missing since we lost Kempsey. Its near a major population. It would lend itself very well to the tv coverage and would edit into an awesome programme. Its in NSW, we need a national in NSW as far as i`m concerned. The only negative i can see is i think we still should have 5 rounds at this stage, so one would have to make way? Not a decision i would like to make, just a thought maybe some races could be run bi annually. But it means everyone still get a round??? Just a thought???
Just another thought, how about a compulsory driver change. Second driver must do at least 25% of the race distance. That would mix it up a bit......
