Was only discussing this with another competitior last night, Seems like one race lifts the entry a little than the others all seem to think "well they paid "X Dollars" To go to "Y" Track so we can charge the same. On the other hand, The entry of one of the NSW rounds was broken down to me to show what it costs to run an event, & It was proven to me that the entry only just barely covered the costs of the event. Unfortunately for us, If we want to race, we have to pay.

Interesting question - SORRA is approx 60-70 for a club round, and I think about 170 for a NSW round. Perhaps you should request a breakdown in running costs of an event from your club (if you're a sorra member rock along to a club meeting).
Can users from other states verify the costs of your state/club rounds?

Our clubbies at Geelong are $80-$90. Most Victorian state rounds are $200 plus. I think you will find that the SA events are cheap as opposed to yours been expensive. SA events have always been great value for money. Look at last years pines national round, $280 entry plus prize money.
Our club SORRA,pays to Cams for a club race about $65 per entrant, our club charges $75 .The club subsidises the cost of running the meeting with the canteen profits (hopefully) and the fact that the property is our own and we don't have to hire it off somebody else.Sure we have to pay rates and other stuff, but we have an income from some other events held on the property at which our club members volenteer to operate canteens and do other stuff to raise funds.
The NSW Championship rounds have higher costs for permits, higher charges for insurance, you have to have an ambulance or equivilant on site ,but hey you get the idea, and to put on one of these meetings unless you get some sponsership it will cost you per car about $160 per car if you get the minimum entry of say 24 cars. Now when you look at the calender in NSW you might notice that most of the races in NSW are in the NSW Championship so they are obviously gunna costa plenty.
I hope this will explain the discrepencies in some of the pricings that you see, please feel free to ask any of the organizers at any of the events that you go to how much it is for thier permits and fees or you could just ring CAMS office in your state and they can tell you the different fees and charges
