I found Aztek!

There was a rumour that when Off Roaders retire they go to Oran Park and race Historics...Turns out to be true, found Aztek racing a Clubman and keeping the flat track racers honest...

When you said you'd found Azteck I thought you were going to say he was stuck behind a lounge cushion....

Howd he go? Good times?

My brother Justin and I double entered the car. He has been racing it for the last 2 years or so, at the front of the field in both Historic and State races.

I started out a bit slow, but by the end of the day got within 2 seconds of him.  Justin took 2nd outright for the day and manged 6th in a 60 car line up.

The event consists of a standing start, 2 cars at a time about 10 second apart. The fastest heat time-all 3 laps is the winner.

Had a blast, back held up really well and all the car needs is a quick polish and its ready for the next event, even the race suit and helmet are clean.

For those that are interseted-  Car was built in late 70's by Harry Galloway,it is powered by a Toyota Corola 3K engine about 90hp at the rear wheels with a 4 speed Volvo P1800 gear box with Albins gears and a Morris Minor diff.  It tips the scales at 406kgs and runs 13" wheels.  My Dad has raced in this class for many years
and won theAustralian Championship in 1983 and 1985 in ths very car.  The car was sold in 1986 and Dad retired from racing.  Then a few years ago we bought the car back , fullyrestored it to 1983 specs and have been racing it in Historics ever since.

Sure! its not Off Road Racing, but its still racing, and I had a ball.

By the way, that little Toyota revs to 9000 rpm,and thats with standard rods and crank!
