This is a bit tongue in cheek, so don't go to hard on me guys...Spaz!
So, we can't run buggys with bodies in the Extreme 2wd class(because of ethics apparently) but we can run trucks in the buggy class....surely not!
Man we are going to look a right bunch on TV next year, 100 buggys AND trucks in Pro Class, 3 trucks and 1 "buggy" in the truck- I mean- Extreme 2wd class and 5 buggys with a Porsche in Pro Lite.
It may have been tongue in cheek, but probably more of an issue than the other way round. A quick surf thru USA ( which a fair percentage of our cars are coming from ), shows how many trucks dont have their engines in the front. Ivan Stewarts Toyota (mid engine/transaxle) Porter Trophy trucks (mid engine/ V drive ) Corona Trophy truck ( mid engine/ v drive) and the list goes on Change the rules in extreme 2wd and all these vehicles will go to pro class - quite a confusing result for a class structure. Here is an extract from Stewart Raceworks.
'Wayne Lugo's Ford Trophy Truck Wayne Lugo has had several F-150 Prerunners built by Raceworks, but finally gave Craig the go ahead to build him a race car a few years back. Originally built as a Class 1 Truggy, Wayne decided after its initial season to have it converted to a Trophy Truck so as to obtain sponsorship more easily. Since a Truggy is essentially a Truck with a simpler buggy style body, the conversion was easy and Wally World did his usual masterwork with the paint. '
If the rules in Extreme 2wd were partly designed to allow someone to import a rear engine trophy truck why didn't they design them for Pro-4 (4wd trucks) as well and while they were at it they should have increased engine capacity so people could buy off the shelf trophy trucks without having to fit smaller motors.
