Hi i've just discovered a small weep in my fuel tank coming from one of the upright welds on the side of the tank. The tank is foam filled and i was wondering how to go about fixing it.
If the tank has a plate bolted to it at the top with the filler and return lines etc welded to it then you will be able to remove the foam blocks through the hole after removing the plate.
If it doesn't have a plate then I reckon you're going to have to cut a hole at the top that you can get the foam out of then bolt a plate over it once it is repaired.
I have used the QUicksteel resin putty at the racetrack with fuel peeing out. The putty stuck wet with fuel and all. Next prep we ran out of time to pull it out, then didnt race for 6 months. Pretty sure it held for nearly a year and even then only reason it came off was becasue we ground it off to repair properly. Suprised me!
is that legal to repair a fuel tank in offroad or do u need to buy a new one from the states lol oops sorry guys and girls shouldnt of said that may have started a new rule
mine was patched with the epoxy stuff in the 90's and since it worked ,it hasn't been touched since and is still happy to this day. no boy has said anything about it, so I guess you'll be the only one that will know you have done it. If your not happy with that , I guess you will replace the tank when you get around to it!
