There was one year of VZ series Commodore that had a 3.5lt Alloytech. It was only supplied for a year (l had one for a while) if you could find one, that would be the best way to go. Hayden Bentley ran a GM turbo 3.5 if that would be any help.
thanks TOYOTAPOWER what do you mean by different rods? And who does it? and what other parts would i need?? as i have never heard of OFFSET GRIND
Cheers
Means moving the centre of the journal on the crank by machining the journal to change the stroke. Also involves changing the the diameter of the journal hence the need for different rods and bearings. It is usually done to increase stroke but can possibly be used to reduce stroke also.
Unless you are romantically attached to the motor I would be looking for something that is already 3.5 litre.
yea have done some searching and the 3.6lt is very hard to work with and everything that needs to be done to it has to be custom made so means big $$$. So will be looking for some thing else. So if any one knows of a good v6 up to 3.5ltr turbo or non turbo let me know
For a very good engine standard with a huge array of aftermarket parts you can't go past the VQ35DE. I ran a stock one with two turbos, had a problem with boost creep and managed to run it for two seasons at 520 wheel HP on 14.7psi of boost. Only replaced it on upgrade. I've since upgraded all the internal and heads to Cosworth and planted some bigger turbo's on her. 609 wheel hp at only 16psi (she'll do well in excess of 750 but I simply can't use the power I have now in a light weight car). You'll also find the VQ well supported by Kennedy, Albins, Weddel, Daily Engineering, etc.
