engine oil cooler's

are there any general rule's about what size cooler to run on a certian engine size ?

what size would be recomended on a toyota 20 valve ?

i ran a 10 row ( 3 " high ) x 10" wide cooler and found the oil pressure droped by 15 psi when hot ,

was looking into possibly a 16 row ( 5" ) x 10" , any thoughts ?

Agreed, don't run one . Run synthetic oil and change it often if there is evidence of it having been hot - i.e. it gets black really quickly.

We don't run one on the 2GR-Fe with standard sump and no excessive discolourisation of oil even with our high ambient temperatures.

Yep thats it,
Exactly what I do. And if your water cooling system works efficently, There should be no need for an oil cooler.
Expecially with the regular oil changes.

lol ,
you got to remember the ambient temps are higher over here ,
and the oil systems also helps in engine cooling ,

their is always a reason for blow ups, with synthetic oils, coolers not going to solve the problem, just prolong it,mind you its a little piece of, it can only help insurance..

carried out some more testing today
found the coolant out let temp around 95 C
coolant in let temp around 75 C

oil temp still up at 150 C
engine block around 120 C in the lower half ,
i read on another forume a post that was wrighten by a dyno tuner of drifting 20v's
he said he had comonly seen oil temps around 50 C higher than coolant temps ,

i hadn't cheaked the oil temps before , so i have no base line to refer to ,
