I  clamp the body down(not in a vice), then put a bar through the eyelet with a bit of leather belt where the bar touches the shock end ,then unscrew it.

may I ask why you are taking it off ?

the body needs to be replated as its now rusting badly. Is there a o-ring in it ? And i have been told too apply heat too it to get the thread locker to release ?

Sorry  I can not help you with that one, as I have not had to pull a fox one off yet.I  know the sway-a-way I did, I didn't have to heat it up and there was no  o-ring.

I dont think they come off. I dented a tube with the piston on the wrong side of the dent, I had a go and used a lathe chuck to hold it, we had so much force on it that the tube spun, galling in the chuck. didnt even crack it even with quite a lot of heat. I bought a new shock in the end.

I'd clean it up and give it a coat of black engine paint and bake it at a low heat to cure the paint but not melt any o-rings. not the best option but the least bad option without risking wrecking it totally.

sorry to hear you had no luck but mine did end up coming apart. I put the body in a vice and took the bearing out of the end and used a alloy rod to crack it with some heat. So all good now and they are getting the new zinc coating

How about that. I snuck a look at yours in the electroplaters when mine were having a zinc coating as well.
Damn they look awesome.
