At the next meeting at Colo Park on the 26/26th February, could use some ideas from Mini Buggy members on the design and layout of a track for these vehicles.
If you are coming up on that weekend tohave a run with your Mini Buggy ,don't forget to catch up with me and I'll show you what we have in mind. With your help we can make it want you need.
Spread the word to get as many Mini Buggies as possible there & if your buggy's not going, come along with your input,

G'Day Heyu, Wish I could make it....my sons birthday that weekend.
A track designed for Mini Buggys or Superlites is a great idea, lots of sweeping corners to hang it sideways and a few straights to open it up. I'd prefer to keep all 4 wheels on the ground, but a couple of jumps and elevation changes would make it interesting.
Here's were I'm at with my rebuild....

Hopefully a runner by April/May 2012
cheers
Chris

Sub Regs coming soon for the race meeting on 25/26th February. Scrutineering will be from 3pm onwards, Saturday at track. Canteen will be working both days, with the usual Saturday evening dinner after we all set up and mark track and the rest of the stuff. Sunday scrutineering will be from 7am to 7.30am ,with racing to commence 8.30. Mini Buggies as usual will be run in between the races, should get plenty of seat time. If anyone is able we always can use helping hands to do the work. You can race and give a hand before and after the event ,bring a friend, we'll train em! Poster is attatched Looking forward to a great weekends racing. Don't forget to pray hard between now & race day to stop the rain 2 days prior, then it be perfect for us. --
Still working on the racing bit but social running is happening at race meeting for the bigger buggies. Working on building a new track especially for the mini buggies and this weekend, people are being asked to come along & give some input on what they think should be included this project, length, width, bends, etc all that stuff. So if you want to have a say come on up and check it out. There will be 5 meetings at this track this year, with the biggger size cars.. Training of officials will determine when it is feasable to run the Mini Buggies separately with there own events and the numbers of mini buggies turning up to play will also be a factor. it has to be cost efective, so we need numbers. Spread the word if you have a mini Buggy, become involved, you can play legaly without annoying neighbours. Come along and check us out this Saturday/ Sunday at COLO PARK 60klms up the Putty Rd from the Windsor Bridge at Windsor. on the right hand side of the road. When you get to the Ampol Service Station at Colo Heights ,it is another 20 klms to the track. There is a sighn out front and bunting at gate.
Track is looking like a super Highway, great job Gav. Doesn't just build great trucks (sorry, almost wrote cars) but puts a lot of detail into his grader work as well. Still a little to do next Saturday , so if everybody can give a hand , it will make for a great weekend. the list of vehicles looks good from what I am hearing. Waine Caines is talkinfg about bringing his ute out for a run, changed a bit on front end, Spioltond will be itching to test his new car, Steve Taylor, Robards , Scotty,Nicole Biggar in the ex Jimbo Kearle buggy, Simon in the Padge, maybe a pink VW, etc ,etc . maybe Bob Todd and some mini Buggies as well
Looking forward to it all

Pity about your engine Michael but I heard you were getting a new one anyway. Yeah its a greater pity that no mini buggies turned up. One would have to question why SORRA bothers to support them. They certainly arent supporting themselves. Come on guys do you want a safe legal place to run or not?
yes, you are correct i had the engine before i had the car. sr20ve :) should be good. i had an absolute blast for the first time in my car, and done pretty well before the engine died. but hey that off road :) going to chuck a new oil pump and bearings in the new engine just to be on safe side..
but come on guys it a great track, good people and just great fun all round. dont be shy just turn up and have a fun.
hi new to this as just finished a gsxr powered baracudda bugie and now looking to get some track time somewhere i wont be arrested. I have been watching the site and just haven't been able to get out for a preview of buggies or track maintainance. are going to make a bigger effort this year. can you let me know weekends that mini buggies are going to run ? hope that this will get up and going soon.
The day /night is on June 16/17th. Click on SORRA website and go to Calendar.
At each of our meetings at COLO PARK the sub regs will allow for the Mini Buggies to run. When there is enough running to organise separate days then this will be done. Just trying to drum up interest from the guys & Girls with the machines to make it happen.

sweet loooking forward to it . may have some technical issues with regs regarding rear view mirrors and tail lighting . has been finished as per plan so some pointers for a stress free day would be appreciated
june 16th/17th will be all good for me to come and give the mini buggy a hard time hehe
carlos: in regards to tail lighting, ebay have a set of combination led lights available such as these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-LED-LIGHTS-TAIL-TRUCK-UTE-TRAILER-CARAVAN-12V-24V-/220741683948?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33653acaec
or go at least 50mm red and amber are the go (total each light is 100mm x 50mm, 1 set should be enough at the rear of the buggy. amber is to be on at all times and brake light to be on when brakes are applied of course.
I havent run a brake light at previous events but have run an amber light at the night event. This time round il be running a pair of these 50mm amber/50mm red.
for night time, driving lights are compulsary - few spotties are good.
rear vision mirrors are reccomended but i havent used these in the past, next event i will be using them. go to a bicycle shop they have really small ones available for around $15-20 each.
A horn as well would be good, just to let people know your around if there a bit slow around the track, which i guess having a barracuda you may need to use it a bit! Mine isnt that fast around due to traction problems, but maybe might give you a run as ive changed tyres ;)
dont forget a small 1kg fire extinguisher A B E powder type moutned for easy access.. supercheap etc have these.
Also a good harness too, 5/6 point duck bill are good, camlock may give you some issues in regards to dirt ingress etc. ive used cheap ebay harnesses and they are crap (ie $70 ones) I have seen some sfi out of date 5 point on there new for $50 or so, but pretty rare. Dont have to be fia (CAMS approved) stamped unless you are racing. out of date fia are ok, but new sfi stamped would be better than a used fia stamped if your not racing.
other than those techie things.. hop up on the day and paper work can generally be sorted then or submitted beforehand, cash only of course on the day.
mini buggy turnouts are a bit hit and miss, but il be there anyhow.. some of the guys have sold there buggies last year and since then its been a bit low on numbers.
do come out regardless, because less buggies = more track time and night time gives another perspective of the track.
have a few other concerns also driving suit??? are overalls suitable ??? helmet?? have a good motorcycle one and happy to bring it . will it meet off road spec ????? sorry to be a pain but dont want to be turned away from what im sure will be a good day. finally camping facilities???? have a good tent and can do a good b.b.q.. thanks guys
camping is great at colo there are toilets and showers (hot water) there is a canteen to buy food drinks, sometimes a meal on saturday night if a two day race. very well set up not really roughing it at all as long as you have a good tent and comfy bed you should be set.
getting closer to time for running and lastly want to know best times for turning up to track to set up tent etc. ( scruteneering also ) is it posible to go friday night or just early saturday??/
At this stage early Saturday. Will have better idea as we get closer to day on availability of people. Depends on who is going up with the key. It might be you Carlos
