how to check rpm


i want to check the rpm of my motor independently to my computer. I have igniters and running a wasted spark type ignition.motor is a 1grfe toyota.

Type in digital tachometer into Ebay they are about $10 for a laser type.

Put gearbox in neutral.
Start car.
Rev engine very, very hard.
When a conrod hits the wall of the shed, that was 8,500rpm.

hehe.

You'll have to get a tacho capable of wasted spark. However I doubt your computer trigger is off... unless you're having misfire issues.

I think he has done the suggestions, apparently the rev limiter was too low?
It was set at 5800rpm, because that was maximum power on the dyno, but I suggested he adjust it as per wolfs suggestion.
