It's about time, it would not be that expensive. about $25 per test so it would only add a dollar or two to our fees. I am 100% in favour of testing for drug impairment in motorsport. The concept behind it should be to use it as a tool to get people to alter their behavior. If it is misused that is where we will run into problems.
Are the pass/fail thresholds set for impairment or exposure? Beware people, most tests are designed for exposure and often give false positives for things like eating food containing poppy seeds, taking cold and flu tablets, even some over the counter painkillers can give a false positive.
Will every positive test be verified with a gas chromatograph test? If someone fails a test due to what they claim is a false positive will they still be permitted to race or will it be a case of guilty until proven innocent under the guise of duty-of-care?
It's a big fat can o worms. It has to be done correctly or it's going to be messy. Hopefully the policy is done better than the noise testing which is still so far off the mark it's embarrassing.
I'd better go read the policy.

Maybe a bit more 'communication' would be recommended, but if you are asking CAMs, then goodluck! Lets just add it to the fuel testing, noise testing, and whatever else they decide that never seem to be implemented well! I think its a great idea, but how often and when will it be implemented. Who decides who is randomly checked? State or National level? Who does the test? Maybe we can all get on RBT tv!
Communication is being looked it to for you Jones look illicit drugs in sport that is one thing and i will be starting up the national advisory group. So if people would like to email me @ revolution.smash1@bigpond.com if thay would like to be in this group.
Who does the test? A CAMS official.
Who decides who is randomly checked? A CAMS official. if it was me i would test everone over the year.
I also have deen thinking about this what if some one reads a positive reading and then the test goes back to the lab and is negative.
This is what i would do i would i would say to the competitor if thay think that thay are negative. Race but if the test comes back positive you will get a $10000.00 dollar fine and you can not race for two years. That is what i would do.

I hope something like that is the case. I could see competitors getting rather cranky if they believed they did nothing wrong and hauled the vehicle to the race for nothing.
