Has anyone had any success with having these not overheat?

From memory, a number of people have changed these out due to overheating issues?

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris,

I purchased this buggy off Garry Simpson and he had ran the EG33 Engine for 4 seasons and I ran it for 1 season and both of us never had an overheating problem and never look like it was going to as well.

If it will help with the purchase of the engine I will be more than happy to sell the PWR radiator and fans that used to cool the EG33 engine.

Adam

To add to this Chris., Greg Campbell showed me a little trick with these we run another hose out of the top of the radiator to a port on top of the back section of the engine were these things struggle. Greg has done plenty of National races including Sealake two weeks ago with his eg33 powered Porsche.

Hi Chris,

You are correct the swap would be straight forward pull the old engine out and bolt in the EG33 and start it up.

As for the torque range I don't think there would be much difference.

A standard EG33 Torque is 312Nm (This torque reading is from a standard EG33, I would assume with the modifications to my engine this reading would be higher)

I am assuming that you are running a EJ20k WRX engine 1996-98 model if so the torque on this is 327Nm.

Regards,

Adam

I am currently running a turbo subaru motor mated to a 5 speed fortin.

I have been thinking of swaping engines out so that I can move back into the prolight class (not that I am out to race for sheepstations).

The swap from the turboed engineto the EG 33 should be fairly straight forward should it not????  There would be no need to run the power steering pump as this is on the fortin and I see it comes with the computer to run it and it should bolt straight up to the fortin.

I would assume the the torque range would be much different to the turbo motor so changine of some gears might be needed??????

Cheers

Chris

Chris, I ran one of these, and did have overheating issues, but I beleive it was due to my automatic transmission. As said earlier, others with manual gearboxs seem to be ok.
All subarus have cooling system issues, but there are mods that can be done if required.
I loved my Eg33, and still wish I was running it, it suited my car better than the VQ35.
