It looks like my buggy has been sold, whilst I am very sad that it might be the end of my off-road racing career, I thought I might share some of my memories! Especially how helpful Cams have been over the years!
Thanks CAMS, for making my first buggy in 1988 (mccleod frame) redundant and scrapped due to undersize main hoop, even though it was safe for years before. Thanks for buggering licence and event permits to make club events harder to run. Thanks for stopping my father from racing his buggy with me due to seat belt expiries. Thanks for all the seat belts that I replaced every 2 years that are still hanging in the shed. Thanks for all the extra fire extinguishers that I have in my shed. Thanks for the full licence book that I have, that you wont seem to replace. Thanks for making me fit 2 cross braces and slightly higher hip rails last year. Thanks for the new shining aluminium floor I now have, thats weaker than my old one. Thanks for the new fuel tank, in aluminium (instead of bladder), so that I can fit a testing tap. Thanks for making me take out my rollover vent and put a bit of rubber hose on my tank breather. Thanks for the array of mufflers I now have due to being pinned on noise. Thanks for my thicker aluminium roof plate instead of the steel one. Thanks for my biennial inspection....not sure why? Thanks for the shed full of helmets that dont comply. Thanks for the driving suit with a small tear that Finke didnt like. Thanks for not allowing my incar camera. Thanks for the fuel filler shroud. Thanks for black numbers on white instead of vice versa, and that extra inch inbetween. Thanks for the seat belt cutters. Thanks for the steel valve caps.
Finally, thanks for letting me win more races than I deserved, by simply limiting competition with your stupid rules!
And thanks for the incentive for pursuing my next sport CAMs free!
Shit Jones why not tell em what you really think, but you can't blame Cams for all your problems some of the things you mentioned came about from people inside off road i think, and your car may be sold but i am sure you will be with us for a long time yet. Won't Trophy Karts be run by Cams ?
I think you held back Jones. You left my favorite one out, when they banned work boots & spent two years justifying why the did it. Then after we had all bought racing boots they did a total backflip & said you could use them again. Never quite got my head around that one.
Wayne, you know its time to give-up when the whinging gets to this point! I might be back, but not for while....maybe I might get another trail bike? Adz, trophy karts are already up and running, but under their own insurance/licensing. First event is in october, and I hope to have an event out here somewhere around march next year. CAMs are still looking into it also, but they might not be required?
