Tyre Choice

I am looking to replace my tyres on the rear of my prolite (SR20, combi box, beam front)

Running 7" rims (non-beadlock) with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar walls.

I have been looking at Maxxis trepador, Mickey Thompson etc

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

i think the mickey thompson are over rated.

i have a similar setup sr20 kombie box bearm front.

for rear of mine i run yokohama geolander m/ts 31"
for the front i run bridgestone desert dueler that i have lugged out my self.

excellent package. well i like it anyway

Hi Peter,

I got a pair of 35 inch Maxxis Trepadors off Bruce Champman ( can't thank him enough) at the Lockyer Valley race last year and they worked awesome, great grip in the wet and dry sections of the track and with all the rocks and stumps we ran over i was sure i was going to stuff a tyre but to my surprise there wasn't even any cuts anywhere on them, so i would highly recommend them

i ran 31" and 33" x 10.5" bfg km'2 gripped well , but had a flat / puncher every event , they also wore very quickly
than ran maxxis bighorn 764 less punchers , better tyre life , but less grip ,
have now tried GT radials new tyre , kummodo or something like that ,
grip is good wear seems good and there still holding air after my last event back in sept ,

Thanks for the advice guys I am going with Maxxis Trepadors as I can't afford MTs and a few others. The 31 X 10.5 is $220 each so what the hell.
I would like to go to 33s but the buggy tops out at over 190 ( too fast for my woeful skills)and I hear the bigger the tyre the more stress on the box.
