with the class 7 gone, i thought id start a thread in here detailing my progress with the class 5 colorado extra cab. updates will be sporadic, basically as bits are done they will go up. quick couple of photos of how we started and getting the engine mounted.
thought it time to update with a few more photos. had a scrutineer check our chassis at the front and tell us our interpretation was incorrect, so weve changed the design put the bits back in that needed to go back in. anyway, heres a few photos.
following shortly...for some reason they didn't attach

thanks goanna. we are lucky enough to have a fabricator whos top shelf and willing to work with our ideas.
at this stage it will mainly be run in SA, maybe a few western vic events. after 12-18 months we may look at doing a couple of nationals. unsure yet.
nai and I both just want to get in it and hit the loud pedal!
car is back at our workshop. hoping to get the 6 litre back from the builder in a few days, mount that, plumb the radiator then get onto putting the shocks in.
latest 2 photos....

shocks all mounted and pretty like, radiator and brakes plumbed, fuel system plumbed, dash built, switches installed, CDL3 display installed. car has just been delivered to paint shop. starting to get exciting!
Thanks datto. We're hoping for Cullellaraine in late April. As long as shocks dial in with little hassle and we don't find major issues during shakedown.
Thanks Patoh. We would like to do both masters and pines. All depends on what breaks between now and those races and how much we have left in our budget!!

BUDGET !!!! what the hell is that ???? :)
our racing will be like , ok race meeting this weekend and mortgage payment ummmm looks like were going racing :)
How will you balance that with your butt on one and your wifes on the other? won't that end up 650kg on the drivers side and 500kg on passengers side. Better beef the missus up a bit. Or trim down. Option 1 would be easier.
fingers crossed the dutch courage Colorado will be racing at Parilla in S.A this weekend. we are waiting on a couple of things after testing on the weekend which we hope will add to the reliability but can race if they don't turn up.
fingers crossed!
so we got the car up in time for parilla, day 1 saw us finish a minute infront in class 5 which we were really happy about seeings as we thought we would find issues and not finish the day! we pulled out during the 2nd lap of day 2 as sand clogged up our engine oil cooler causing the engine to run hot. also the shifter cable seems to have melted the inner making it extremely stiff! next hit out will be at Koorlong after fixing our issues. if no more are found, off to sealake for our first really long lap! heres a short video taken from a long way away. dave fellowes is the buggy behind encouraging us!
