Outlaw Super 1650 rebuild

Hi guys, me and a mate of mine bought this outlaw chassis a few weeks ago from Geelong VIC. We have been putting in ridiculous hours rebuilding it and fitting a new engine.

Some specs:

4age 16 valve engine

Kombi 1800 transmission with Albins internals

Stage 3 Kennedy pressure plate with 4 puck clutch disc

Bilstein coil over and gas rears (approx 700mm long)

Front Ausshock coil overs

I have had to grind out and reweld a lot of welds, and fix a bit of damage from a massive accident it was in a few years ago. We stripped it down and repainted chassis and components. Fibreglass seats and panels were in bad shape so my father repaired them (has his own fibreglass conpany which made it easy). We are still deciding on fairing colour. It should be up and running in 2 weeks, and ready to race in a month. Goes for its Biennial inspection on Sunday..... The first few pics are how we got it.

Hi mate had a outlaw myself same as your self with 4age and a 1800 box with albins gears was a great car.If you look on the rear torson bar it should have a welded number on it (like 001 or 002 and so on).Who did you by the car off? Might be able to tell you a bit about it as we are good friend with the bloke that built them.I hope you and your mate have as much fun as I did with mine

I cant find a serial number on it. I may be looking in the wrong place or it may no longer be there. The chassis has undergone major changes over the years.

It was bought from down at Geelong VIC. It is Dean Mott's old buggy. Originally car #137 and then #87.

Here is some pics of it now. It is running and should be ready for racing at Sealake Mallee Rally in June

Hi mate I think you might find this was the first one built and it belonged to Gavin Beattie then it was sold to Kevin Hewlitt and then ended up with dean.it stared with a 2lt Datsun motor and then a 1800 cordia turbo motor

Yep, thats what my log book says. It last had a turbo V6 in it running pro class (car no. 87).  Thats pretty cool to have the 1st one. I think they only made about 14 outlaw's in total didn't they?

Here is come pics of it all finished. The bodywork was stuffed so it had major repairs done to the body

thanks guys. I am hoping to run it at Sealake 8/9th June, but only if the testing goes well before that. Ive taken it out every weekend for the last 3 weeks. twice in ran great, but once a pump stop on the rear snapped, a trailing arm drooped too much and a CV joint exploded. It should be all fixed now, but I'll be giving it a punishing every weekend until I am happy that it will hold up at a race meet.
