Thanks Cobra. No steering quickner on this car. We designed the front end so it steers very fast and with only 1 turn full lock to full lock. I love having a car which is very fast to through around and correct so pretty happy with how this one ended up.
Luke, after a couple of events now , just wondering your opinion on the 2GR verses the VQ35. You would be about the only one i know that would have driven both engines competitivly in a buggy. Your prologue times at Mannum and Parilla would say that there isn't much in it as it's about were you would have been in the Chenny.
Is there much difference in the weight of the 2 cars?
Well... I have to say I love the 2GR. It is definitely one up on the VQ. The gearing is exactly the same in both cars and I have to say the Toyota pulls harder and is more responsive than the VQ. It revs a lot better and higher than the Nissan too, which definitely suits my style of driving.
I haven't weighed the Chenny before but the matrix is 1220kg dry. Looking at the tube sizes and plate thickness difference between the two cars, I would have the Chenny at about 1300-1350kg (estimate).
Interesting to know. with the number of VQ's running in this class it made me wonder if there was any compertition for it. I guess the amount of aftermarket performance stuff sways people that way but you seem to do well enough with a stock motor Luke. Did you notice that on the dyno sheet as well when compared with the Chenny or just from driveablility?
Both actually. It has great power on the dyno and also a dead flat torque curve pretty much through the whole rev range. It has more than the chenny from down low... but its the responsive throttle from the Toyota which is awesome!
I love the stock motors... its kinda a good pride thing as well. I know it sounds silly but its a great feeling being able to throw a wrecker motor into a buggy and be close to on the pace.
