Now that this year's event is done and dusted (oh, and about that dust .... ), would like to get some feedback from anyone that participated. What worked, what didn't, suggestions as to how things could improve. Happy to consider genuine suggestions while the event is still fresh in you minds. About to start on next year's regs. Thanks.
I personally would rather see the cars let go one every 30 seconds rather than two every minute. Even this year the dust was still bad despite the rain and the start /finish loop is very narrow so if you lose the drag race to the first corner you are in dust until the track changes to sand.
I don't think there is a solution, i was lucky to leave Alice on my own when Buddy Crowe blew a gearbox next to me on the start line, but didn't take long before i was stuck in the dust of the next two cars, which i passed in the first section of woops from there on it wasn't too bad.
On the start from Finke it was pretty bad at one stage i was crawling along in first gear even though re seeding should have made it better, as i said i don't know how you fix it but first couple away has a huge advantage over the rest of the field.
We enjoyed the race and the way it was run, but tell me why you call a drivers briefing and we stand around for 45 min waiting in the cold before any official turns up. not a fan of that.
The fact is that a 1650 with a manual gearbox can beat a 500 horsepower car with an auto to the first turn even though the bigger car may have done a better prologue time.
Thanks, Simpson, for your input on driver's briefing. We can certainly look at the times that are set. Do you mind letting me know if it was Race Day 1 or 2 where there was a delay in the briefing?
