Thought it might have been the one I had, but no...

Datsun 1600 independent rear.
Had a 2 litre in it, set back half into the cabin.
I was stuffing this VG30 turbo into it and got a job up north.
Sold it to a mate who used the motor in his buggy and tossed the shell.

Wish I'd finished it.

Half a dozen photos of the vehicle.
the link didnt paste right, if you're interested copy and paste the link in my signature and look in the Old uncompleted project album in photos.

Lets try this: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.352082884868239.84500.187297714680091&type=3

I was at the point of fabricating air-sprung mcpherson struts (2.5 inch OD hollow bar from a 2 stage forklift ram for the inner and a 3 inch ID outer) and longer datsun style rear trailing arms using landcruiser front spindles and hubs all round. We got the idea for the shocks from Macchi jet landing gear struts which I had a bunch of parts from. The gas reservoir fitted beautifully inside the inner tube which was quite long.
Rear was outboard landcriuiser CVs, inboard Porche style cvs on a shortened hilux diff - standard axles were machined down until the "wheel bearings" were almost touching the diff bearings.
The engine and gearbox were mounted in a cradle that bolted into the bottom of the car and tied the rear suspension mounts to the front of the cage.
It was an interesting project we were trying many ideas out on. Such a shame to hear it went into a scrap metal bin when it was 60% complete. Heaps of power and 14 inches of travel in a class 5 would have been a competitive package 12 years ago.
