Single seaters

Is it time we allowed single seaters in super 1650 class? There are probably quite a few out there in sheds that were once competitive open class cars but would not have a chance of keeping up these days even as pro lites. They would however make very competitive super 1650's. I don't believe there is a huge weight advantage by having no navigator, we allow them in pro, pro lite & class 4. I just think it may get some cars out of sheds & back on the track.

I agree single seaters for 1650 class It may make a cheaper alternative with lower horse power and easier on gearboxes. What is the worry for Hyabusa powered cars?

There are not only tthe older cars but cheap A/arm stadium cars from the states that would work well as a 1650.

Maybe its time to revise the 1650 class. But I think with all the talk of old cars why not split into beam cars and A arm cars . If it was to happen we need to get it right because all of the old pro cars will need "new" motors and potentially re ratio the gearbox .what size motor should they get ?

Should a single seater have a smaller engine than a 2 seater?

What is the entry level class now?

Will a few more options entice people onto the track eg Beam car, combi gearbox, 1 or 2 seat no inboard hubs any motor up to 2 ltr ( could be the biggest class we get)

Anyone looking to get into the sport see A arm, 6 speed sequential,24" travel and go buy a go cart.

Have a look at the classifieds can you sell a mid field beam car any more?

regards David

Maybe bring class 9 back, engines up to 2.5lt or around there 1 or 2 seats doesn't matter. Seems a lot of the budget classes have been lost or rule changes have pushed the small guy out over the years. (All the class 4 baja's disappeared pretty much as that class changed) Should be more classes to attracted the small guy that just wants to have a go at state or club leval.

I agree with looking at revising the 1650 class

increase class 3 capacity from 1330 cc up to 1650 cc N/A , 2 seat , mabe beam only and mabe 4 spd only
no engine change if you don't want
the class 3 guys may not like it , but gives more No's to a declining class ,

class 2 from 1650 cc to 2500 cc N/A 4 cyl , 1 or 2 seat , direct injection included

there a quite a few new technology motors coming out that are a bit over the 2ltr size , ( Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ , for eg )
a class 10 car from the US could be brought in with out having to change the engine ( 2.2 ltr GM eco tech's )

pro lite has worked fantastically , but there is a larger gap between pro lite and 1650 than compaired to the gap between pro and pro lite

this class would be great for the weddle hv-1 , mendy md4-2d , agb - 10 box's
I believe the weddle hv-1 and mendy 2 d want last well in pro lite when driven hard on hard long tracks in heavier cars

I agree with LIAbility and believe it would be a great change to up class 3 to 1650 and super 1650 to 2.5.
I don't believe it would upset too many.
Sea Lake had 7 class 3's and 31 1650's
I am biased though as I have a 2 litre and kombi box in a beam buggy which doesn't have a hope in hell of competing with the 3.5litre donks.

Definitely no more classes created though as it is common sense that not all classes have three competitors now in most races.
I still like what we have now but think it could be tweaked.

I suppose they do have the same 10 " crown wheel and pinion as the the HV-1 and mendy 2-d
though I thought the agb 10 had larger gears set
as the hv-1 gear set is based on a 094 VW and the 2-d base on the T1 VW

Some good ideas. So we think a "restricted" class to take over class 3. 1650 motor, beam front end & 4 speed "H" pattern box, 1 or 2 seat, no other restrictions. Then class 2, 1 or 2 seat, up to 2 litre engine no other restrictions.

Are there currently restrictions on direct injection motors?

mabe we should start a separate topic on this ,
I'd say class 2 up to 2.5 ltr , I agree with the rest of what your saying

The problem with the AGB10 is the R&P.

The rest of the box is the same as the AGB and very good.
