My understanding is that's 100% correct. I can't believe anyone would come up with such a plan or what it achieves other than causing lots of people lots of grief.

sticking it to the arb series ? political crap means none of our numbers are eligable unless you pay your $50.00 and someone else hasnt got it already, where does that leave arb 1st to 3rd in classes?

Not only that Tine, who polices it? Is it up to an event director to troll through a list of registered numbers (if one exists) to make sure that someone running a club event in Victoria doesn't have the same number as a national competitor in WA? I can just see someone getting refused an entry in a club race because they have the wrong number.

All for perceived advertising dollars (again, if they exist).

Rules made for the big end of town & everybody else can eat dirt.

nonono

I think competitors should ask their various Off Road State Panels to lodge an objection with AORCom. Why should club & state level competitors have to pay to register their numbers if they are not participating in AORC. We already give preference to the Registered numbers if they attend State/Club level events, but as an organiser I do not want to have another burden placed on me to check that none of my club & state level entrants are running the same number as a someone else in Australia who is not even at the event. Many years ago my son ran the number 424 (Baja) in NSW and someone else ran it in Victoria without any problems. If my son had gone to an event in Victoria he would have changed his number for the event if the other competitor was there and vice versa. That is nonsense about Sponsorship. The big sponsors do not attend Club Events nor do the TV Cameras, and maybe only a few State Level Events. The sponsorship is for a team or vehicle not a number.

Kempsey's two State events will not be enforcing this rule.

Does anyone know the link to what numbers are already locked in for AORC? It says on the link provided about that there will be a list but I can't find one...?

I must agree I don't see why the numbers registered for AORC can't be priority at events - but used by other competitors at events where the primary number "owner" is not present... I kinda thought that was how it worked before and it always worked fine...

It's an interesting point they are pushing because the flip side of that is that for the Class 4 guys like Brad Gallard, Beau Robinson or Billy Geddes - do they really want to run a 401/402/403 verses their commonly recognised numbers? Because I am pretty sure they were forced to run the Class numbers not their "registered" numbers for 2014 and some didn't want to...

I know of a few competitors that have paid the $200 to cams to have exclusive rights to their competition number and have no intention of doing any AORC events, I also see this causing a lot of headaches for event organizers and competitors that aren't fully aware of the current rules.
My personal opinion is that this wasn't thought through very well.

I paid the $50 to CAMS to keep my number. I have had this number for a few years now. I do not intend running a national event this year, I was hoping to run some ARB and State/Club events but I may not race at all this year depending if the buggy is ready.

I was also told over the phone that another competitor can have the same number on their Buggy any where in Australia but I have priority at all the events I race at.

The $50 rego is ok, and, as I think it should be. After running my number for 28 years, I'm not really interested in changing. And if, by paying $50 assures I can run it no matter where I go, is well worth the piece of mind, even if I do only run one event this year. Having said that, I'm not that worried if others use it at other times. The additional $150 to register for the aorc, well i guess that is where they want to get a bit of cash and lighten the load a bit for the pointscorer. But the exclusive use of numbers for promotional purposes, I think is more of an inconvenience to the organisers that are left to enforce it. After all if someone ran a national registered number at a club event, are they going to confuse the fans of the national guy, or would anybody even notice.

Just looking at the foot note on the media release and how it is worded;

Please Note: Preference regarding allocation of competition numbers shall be given to competitors who register for the AORC in 2015. A list of allocated numbers will be published on the CAMS website allowing competitors to view remaining numbers available for registration throughout the year.

If this is the case for next year does that mean if you didn't register for the AORC in 2015 (but did pay your $50 number registration fee) that number preference will be given to competitors who did register, i shot an email to cams about this a couple of weeks ago but they have not replied.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I rang cams about this when the media release came out and asked that exact question as I had my number registered last year but not for AORC points, they told me that as I had previously registered my number I have first preference on it if I submit the paperwork and pay my $50 by the 1st of March , I did that and have secured my number for this year.

When I rang and asked the question they told me previous number owners had preference like you say regardless of aorc rego or just number, and even went on to say that if someone nominated a number that was registered to a competitor in the past year, that they would call them to check as to whether they still wanted it before giving it to someone else

Does anyone know where you can find a list of available numbers? Would like to register a number so don't have any issues later. I know my current number is used, don't think we will ever do same events but also don't want to cause dramas

Just thought i would let you all know there are not many 2 digit number left for Pro Buggy's, So if your thinking about Securing a number get in quick. Not sure how they will manage the numbers moving forward as I'm sure there are more than 100 buggy's Nationally in some classes that will all lock in there numbers in future.
