COLO PARK, SORRA Club round 6 last for the 2015 season. Looks like we are set for some great racing in this, the last round of the Sydney Off Road Racing 2015 season. The Outright drivers Championship has a Pro Buggy and an Extreme 4WD in the lead , with not much between them & third spot being fought out between a Sportsman Buggy and a UTV. These two have 2 points separating them & both need to attend this race. 191 Tony Abson is the leading car in this class & is laying down consistent results in his quest for the class title. Josh Howells 115 and David Nikiforoff 190 have a mere 5 points separating. Who will be 2nd or 3rd? 181 Steve Taylor will be the sleeper for this race, his daughter Renee navigating. David Nikiforoff will have his son Daniel navigating. Wayne Murphy from Vineyard, will have his 6ltr Pro buggy out to play for the 2nd time at COLO Park, with his girlfriend naving for him this time. 288 Scott Muma, with his young daughter in the passenger seat, Warren Irons 292 and son Joshua, plus Carl Calgano in his newly revamped Rivmasta buggy , Vern Wakefield, 260 and 285 Chris Camanzuli, making the Super 1650 class a force to be reckoned with over the weekend racing. Chris could take out 2nd place in his Class if he gets a finish for the event. In the Sportsman Class (1350cc) 333 Gavin Sheperd will have a Jeff Van Der Korput naving for him. This will be a little different for Jeff who would normally pilot his Extreme 4WD Jeep that placed very highly in the NSW Championship. Modifications are afoot for next years Championship, so the next best thing to driving is jumping in someone elses car for the experience. Matt Nikiforoff 390 and maybe Ally Howells in the 305 will make it another top Class battle. 416 Mark-Paul Grant from Llandilo, with Michelle Roberts in the fright seat, fresh from winning his Class in the ARB Off Road Series, will be trying to cement his Extreme 2WD 1st spot in the Club Championship. Another Father /son combo racing to bag points in Club Championship is John and Robert Wilkinson from Glossodia, in their UTV. They are also in the running for 3rd OR in SORRA Club Champs and need be there at the finish. Looking over this field as it stands, and entries dont close until the 14th November, there will be lots of close racing for the outright & Class positions throughout this meeting, Glenn Hoffman 18 , 700cc Webber engine, with Turbo , 185 Wayne Murphy 6ltr Chev, Tony Abson 1300cc Hyabusa, Josh Howells 115, 190 David Nikiforoff and Brad Burton in his Extreme 4WD are expected to be the machines putting on the show in their quest to take the Outright mantle for the weekends racing. But dont think the rest of the field are going to let them get away with that. Should be good racing throughout the whole field. On Saturday Morning there is the CAMS come and Try Driver Training. This is an initiative of CAMS & the Sydney Off Road Racing Club to train & involve younger persons ,car control and basic maintenance. This is not just for driving on dirt, but the basic training is done on dirt. It is for persons aged 12 and upwards. It is open to all. If you or somebody you know might be interested in this, ring Elaine on 0403 179 591 or Morgan on 0422 326 932. They will help you out with all the info you require. From 12noon there will be a Khanacross event. And the Off road racing will start 4.30pm with 2 races running on the Saturday then start again Sunday morning at 8.30am.
