i just seen the new specs for class 6 , not a bad option when you consider that our governing body cant get its head around froming a pro class . it just seem to me that the rules have not keeped up with way technology has changed the way you build a buggy.
You can get the new class 6 regs off the main site.
Not a bad sort of an idea - a step in the right direction at least! 1600 with restrictor plate, no VVT, no outboard CVs, must be a beam car, single shock per corner front (can be coil over), twin with 1 coil over rear, not external canisters or by-pass shocks.
Personally I would have prefered to have seen no aluminium wheels as well, but all in all hopefully a good class!
As for the pro-class debate, its been going on for a while! What would you like to see fatman?

Can anybody clarify the use of a restrictor in this class, if i use twin carbs do i use 2x 23 mm restrictors or or 2x 11.5 restrictors, this class will suit my budget down to the ground and i have enough parts (And interested parties) lying around to run maybe 2 cars in this class but i would like to clarify the retrictor issue first
Don't like the idea of class 6. Like fatman is saying we should be more inclined in getting a pro class up and running or Change the rules. i.e. no motor limit for classes 1, 4, 5, 8, 9.
In the US they run 410 ci in buggies and 495 ci in trucks. why can't we do that out here. Gearboxes these days can handle the power.
Wouldn't it be smarter to bring the number of classes back a bit so we can have more cars in the classes we have already.
OORR! We COULD if we were smart, combine class 1 & class 9 ( motor sizes 1650ccs to 6 litre) & then combine classes 6 , 2 , 3 & 9(motor sizes up to 1650cc's)
What do you think, its only common sense, save a lot of hassles for event organizers & scorers,.
i agree with ian there needs to be less class , another opinion class 4 and 5 jion with a little massage of the rules you could get it to work now i mean bajas and cars go together and move stadium trucks to pro class and mic yes in pro class run what you brung.
I have reopened this thread to post a response to Underdog's restrictor comment. Thanks to Daryl Pearce who cleared it up:
It must be a SINGLE restrictor plate of 23mm fitted between the carby base and the inlet manifold... sorry 'dog, that means single carbs only mate... Either that or its time to start manufacturing your own EFI inlet mani.
Actually how would that work with a 45dcoe weber? Arent they twin throat carbs?
If you're interested Ive got a injection system for an L20B at home. Rails, injectors, plenum, reg etc. Will bolt to an L16 head without too many mods, but we never got around to doing it.
if you have to go to a single carb try a 1 1/2 su then you could machine up a veturi that went from 35 mm to 23mm that sat inside the bottom of the carby and it will ram the air through the restricter plate
Thanks for the feedback guys i have spoken to an engine builder armed with the above facts and he said to use the same recipe that the nascars do (they are restricted via a plate as well ) lots of compression big degree cam ++++++++++ starts to add up to more than a normal bolt in and race class 2
Yeah - the same arguement has been put forward by Daryl Pearce. Playing the devils advocate though, if no-one spent mega$ on the engine everyone would be on a level playing field... but its a big if...

i think that ex racer or mabey eracer or who ever has not quite read what people are posting on this froum, or she would know that a lot of people have be saying that there is to many class and that while fixing one class is good why not fix them all.
