Pro Class (or class 1): Single or double seat buggies from 1650cc to 6000cc, suspension and driveline free, minimum dry weight 750kg dual seat, 800kg single seat. Class 2: Double seat buggies up to 1650cc, suspension and driveline free, minimum dry weight 750kg Class 3: Double seat buggies up to 1650cc, beam front end, 2 shocks front, 4 shocks rear with only 2 shocks with coil overs, no VVT, restrictor plate, no outboard cv's, no external canisters or bypass shocks, no aluminium wheels, no bead locks (based on new class 6 rules), 4 speed non sequential production transaxle, minimum dry weight 750kg Class 4: Silouette 2wd vehicles (combination of class 4 & 5) Class 5: any 4WD
Im not real sure on the non-buggy classes...
Discuss.
ps - note that this isnt necessarily what I would push for the future... to tell you the truth I havent put that much thought into it - just curious to see what others think...

heading in the right direction, we need to cater for the buggies we have racing how and what is been built for the future. this is my opinion and it will proberly change when i hear better ideas , class1 and 9 should be joined with a weigth break for 2 seaters , leave class2 and make class 3 new entry level class, now the only restriction is on the amount of shock travel, and for pro class you would have no restriction, it sounds easy and that mite be the problem . thats just my opinion so far.
Mick... what dont u like about having class 6? as for gearboxes that can handle a 496ci engine... not without robbing a bank! and as to why they went with 1600 - same price as a 1600 with more power so why not? what would you like to see? (other than pro class)
Fatman... limit classes by suspension travel??? so you kinda see (and correct me if Im wrong) pro class - anything goes with weight break for 2 seaters class 2 - same but with limited travel... limited engine as well? class 3 - some sort of budget class? no floaters, bypass etc? further to that, class 4 trucks to run in pro class (based on suspension travel). Have I got it right?

Wolf. I believe you are on the right track. The only major change I would make in the buggy classes is new Class 6 for next year - scrap it. Class 3 should be same as new Class 6 but with 1350cc engine. There are plenty of current Class 3s around and the Class is well supported. Tin tops require more thought.
pro class rung what you brung and hope you brung enough.
class 1 and 9 same as now but limit travel to 12" front 14" at back
class 2 same as now but single seat with weigth same travel as above
class 3 same as above
i think you need a progession so you can start out in class3 build up a good package then all you have to do is up size your motor.if you want, also the more we make chassis similar the easier it is to show interest onlooker how to get started in racing. i have not forgot class 4 or 5 but you need to get that rigth because they have been stuff around already.
Roof numbers work very efectively, they just don't get too much mud or dust on them up there, so the people who are checking the numbers on the cars have a better chance of getting the right one.
And it is much better to get the number before the car is dissappearing into the distance & you are trying to read it off the back number plate & then have 2 cars 1 behind the other & no chance to get number, Uh Oh, someone loses a lap.
ian i agree with the weight but you can almost bet that two seat owners are going to want it, with the roof numbers i know there for a good reson im just say they are a dated apperance and there mite be a better way of doing them.
maybe there is a simple way of having a weight bais instead of having a minimum weight just have single seaters bolt in say 60kg of lead to the frame rail in 30kg lot on both sides of the seat then have a seal on them which you can check at the end of a race .
Just out of curiosity... would the power figures be comparable for a 1350cc with no restrictor to a 1650 with a 23mm restrictor? but I must admit Ive got no firm position on it either way. Actually if the power figures are comparable then the 1350 has got to be lighter - and therefore the car may be quicker for the same price...
Re the divisions - I still see 3 buggy divisions
Expensive (Pro) Medium (same as pro with 1650cc engines which would reduce driveline costs and encourage the k.i.s. principle to cut down weight which would also cut down costs of non esential items) Cheapest (restricted)
And I definately think that a weight penalty should be applied to single seaters - its not very practical though as it would be very difficult to enforce... I think dual seat should be encouraged especially in the restricted class (including the current class 6) to get young navigators into seats with mates so that they too can get bitten by the bug... I think it was a huge mistake to let the new class 6 cars be single seat as well... but again, how to enforce it??? dont know... :(

CLASS 1,9 SHOULD BE JOINT ALSO CLASS 2,3 SHOULD BE JOINT CLASS 6 R.I.P TO MANY BUGGYS CLASSES NOW EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC LIKES TO SEE THE 4,5,7 AND 8 THE REAL CARS.
