We've just bought a set of supertrapps for the wolf, Im interested in others opinion of them.
Like them? Loathe them? Neutral?
Ive heard some people say they muffle bass well, but rob horsepower, others say they dont help sound at all, others say they add torque.
Supertrapp's own brochures say they do can either (add hp or add torque but wont lose either!) dependant on the number of discs which can change engine note, the less discs the better its muffled and the better the torque....
Plausible?

choking down any exhaust is not good for hp or torque but you already have them, so i would stick in as many disks you can and if you get busted for niose just take some out.
i think there thinking is with the disks it creates a low pressure area behind the disk that will suck the exhaust out better .but you needs lots of disks and that means lots of noise .
Sorry to upset you wolf, but my old 'boat anchor' ran twin exhaust with supertrapps. I got busted at Finke for noise (and it was noisey), I then fitted hot dogs inline along with supertrapps and got busted again the following year at Finke! Could'nt risk another log book note, so I threw them away with the boat anchor...want to buy them?
Eric Philips runs that dirty great cadillac enging on supertrapps only - wonder if he's been pinged? I think (but Im not sure) that Bentley is the same.... same question!
Did you pull any of the discs after you got done?

Did'nt pull out any discs, as I was told they already rob too much h.p. Apparently they were designed as a spark arrrestor for tractors, then someone put them on their car to be 'really cool' and thought they got more h.p. Whenever you talk to any so-called exhaust experts, none of them like supertrapps and dont recommend using them. I just use whatever I can find/afford, so I am neutral, but I did'nt notice any difference when I took them off my scooby motor & put on decent mufflers, maybe only the dyno can tell.
I have them on my torana as you may well remember when you looked under the car cover when i had it engineered it went 128 db I added to cat convertors came down to 108db Added 2 supertrapps all 8 discs 98db Removed 4 disc then 96 db no power at all Now no disc's or end cover it's 102 but it's taken the real crackel sound away And you can notice the power difference with the discs in place Personally there crap but i paid lots for them many years ago so there still on there and they help keep the noise down a little Never had it on the dyno with the disc's in place
All these comments are about what I figured. There are def more calls against than for. Backup plan is go for a setup similar to buddy's - we've almost got room for it. :p Cheers all!
