we`ve broken 4 in 2 cars, one running ca18 turbo and the other ej20 turbo and 2 of them in the last 2 races. (standard ones) Good point about the albins boxes but a bit nervous about the maintainance costs. Thinking will have to go the aftermarket shafts?

If you are looking for something different but strong you could try talking to Kadco about thier boxes the good thing about them is you can change the gear ratios in about 20 minutes at the race . You can have it geared a bit lower for the prologue then change it for the race or if the track chops up you can gear it to suit . Vern from Kadco runs a twin turbo 6cyl Subaru motor and hasn't blown one of his but has broken 2 Albins boxes.
There is a mitsi powered car over here that has the aftermarket ones in it and doesnt seem to have any problems, I am sure in a car slightly lighter than madden's, and a few more ponies it would be fine for a while.
Where are the shafts breaking? Are they breaking through the oring groove as i suspect and if they are do the aftermarket ones have the same groove? (really bad stress point that groove).
I looked at some very breifly for Danny Attwood as he was having the same trouble. I think you could fit 2ltr Kombi output shafts and spider gears with minimal rooting around. I have never seen a 2ltr Kombi shaft break.... ever....which says something for the quality of them, pitty the rest of the box isn't that bullet proof.
Yeah they are breaking through the o ring groove, and i don`t beleive the aftermarket ones have the groove in them. Maybe you`re on to something? If it works i`d say you`d have some very interested people.
