Danger danger old buggys

Rumours are and I agree, buggys over ten racing years old should have a full tech inspection as they would be fully fatigued frames within that time.People are more concerned with helmets and overalls then the integrity of old frames.Could these be coffins?

Dear Extreme Racer, or is it concerned racer, or perhaps even annoyed racer, you are 100% correct a ten year old car could be a potential coffin. As could the brand new commodore sitting in your local showroom. The fact is people die in cars. New ones & old ones, cheap ones & expensive ones. Remember the Japanese guy who died in the cannonball run driving a state of the art Ferari. I assume you are going to the national round at Goondiwindi, a mate of mine is racing his crappy ten year old car up there. He even lowered himself to run a state round earlier this year & came first. The fact that this state round was on the same weekend as "The Finke" & attracted more 4 wheel competitors is only by the way. Make sure you have a look at his car & also make sure you tell him what a heap of crap it is. I have some good news for you, Ford have pulled out of F1. Seeing as us tight arses involved in off road are obviously so unworthy of your great presence I thought you would be interested in buying the F1 team & you can show them all how it's done.

The Rivmasta was 22 years old when we killed it.  The hit was big, impacted with the roof first flat out in 3rd and yet we walked away fine.  Old or not we were leading class 2 and outright in the NSW ORC at the time of the accident so not only was she bloody strong, she was also pretty quick.

So to answer your question, yes, some of the 10 year old cars out there may be of a lower safty level than some of the new ones, but certainly not all of them, and probably not most of them.

I can tell you that from direct experience...

the way these offroad buggies are made makes them a lifelong safe house. Unless it is a home made POC then it will be safe for at leats 20years. Our RACECO is the safest buggy in Australia. It weighs 1.7t and has enough bar work to supply the scaffolding for Multiplex. We have just come home from Hyden and when we did the input shaft we were leading the race in a 15+ year old buggy that will beat alot of the new cars and I am sure will see many Jimcos and other new cars be destroyed and replaced over its lifetime.

Im gonna guess that you were being sarcastic about the Wolf chassis that we are spending so much time and effort on.  Surely you werent refering to it anonymously as a piece of crap.

Bear in mind that I (Wolf) am the webmaster.  I set up this board, I administer this board and I can also identify every single post that came from your IP address.

And to prove it you have posted a total of 14 times, including as concerned racer and started the post 'sorry phantom' threatening to blow the phantom's alias (I know you know his identity), and although you do have a user ID you prefer to post as anonymous.

I wont blow your cover, just as I havent blown the phantoms, extreme racers or the many other anonymous posts dropped in by club members with user ID's.

I understand that you bought your car, you didnt build it yourself.  Was it 'built in the shed' by another offroader and is therefore 'home made' as well?  Does this give me the right to make sarcastic comments refering to your car as a home made peice of crap?

Just because its owner built I wont stand for anyone refering to it as a poc. And neither will Mick. Or Rick and Ivan.  The 4 of us are building this car to the best of our knowledge and ability.  When the car is finished and you see it at the track for the first time I'll ask you what you think then.  And then you'll be able to offer constructive critisism, not bag it for the sake of it.

Garry Myers.

Go Garry that's what i like to hear. May be DICKHEAD might shut up or grow up which ever they choose to do first. Who gives them the right to criticise another teams efforts of trying to build a NEW buggy. That realy gets my blood boiling. If any one ever came to myself, Garry, rick or ivan and said we need help with our buggy or truck we would be the first there. Just ask the Dal' santo's.

Sorry Shaun and marty. That's right we R & G racing offered to help replace the gearbox, as we would with most other off road racers.
