Hey Buzzard, we actually looked into destroking the 1uz - regrind the crank, custom pistons and funnily enough, honda rods.  No doubt it would rev like a hummingbird, with 6 bolt mains you're biggest restriction is the valves, and that could be solved by using the 2JZ valves and springs, but after I ran the numbers through EAP discovered you'll get alot more torque from a V6, not to mention the bolt engine straight in factor, and the budget!

We'll go to a toyota v6 into ProLite after a year or so running the stock 1uz.
