KMORC members were saddened by the news today of the passing of Ray Vestey. Our condolances go to his family. He was a competitor who did not have to be first home to be a winner, he just competed because he loved the sport. Ray will be sadly missed on the State Off Road scene.
I am sure we are all very sad to hear of the passing of one of NSW Off Road Racings larriken gentleman. Old "Handlebars Vestey" epitomised the saying "We are here for a good time, not a long time". See ya Ray. My deepest condolances to his family.
Back when we were in our first year of NSWORC we had some serious gearbox probs during the last heat on Saturday at Colo which would have put us out for Sunday. Ray offered (demanded almost!) to let us pull his spare gearbox down and use bits off it to keep us racing.
Surprising thing was, we had never met him before.
He was very... errr... energetic about getting us going again. Go racing! go racing! ha ha. That kinda sums up our impression of him.
Our condolences to his close friends and family.
