Hey guys, the rumours are true, plans are well under way for a stadium race at the brisbane exhibition grounds on oct 6 this year. Unfortunately this is the weekend before gundi, but this was unavoidable due to an inner city bypass tunnel being dug under the grounds not long after this date and therefor we won`t be able to use the venue for a while after that. We will however open up a fully equipped workshop for anyone who wants to run Gundi the next weekend and we can organise accomodation in and around Brisbane or the Gold Coast.(why not make a holiday of it?) Dave Parsons, Chris and Hayley Hutton and myself are involved with this event please feel free to contact us if you would like to participate in this event. We are looking for trucks, unlimited buggies, super 1650 buggies, 2wd tintops and 4wd tintops. We are all very excited to be involved with this event and hopefully this will be a stepping stone to more of this style events in the very near future.

Will the track be suitable for current style of buggies, ie, jimcos, chenowths etc, or is it aimed at the stadium style cars of the 90's? What would be the implications for deliberate 'crash-bashing' as we have seen (in past stadiums) from some drivers who feel the need to 'take out' the rest of the field to win? Stadium-holiday-gundi sounds good, bit worried about damaging the car though...that might spoil the holiday bit, and maybe the gundi bit too!
You could always run Warialda on the 29/30th Sept, the stadium race on the 6/7th Oct and Goodi on the 13/14th Oct. 3 Big events in 3 weeks all within a couple of hundred kms of each other, man you guys up north are going to be busy......or are all 3 races going to suffer with small fields. Lets hope not!
And may i add Gold Coast Indy the weekend after Gundi. We are calling it Roctober!!!!
The track will be designed and built so its entertaining but not a car wrecker. So there will be something to suit just about everything.
Deliberate `crashing and bashing` will NOT be tolerated and will be dealt with severly. We want to promote good close entertaining racing and i think most guys a fair enough and talented enough to race in this manner. It will only be the minority that may try and use this tactic, so the majority will be able to pull them into line.
So Steve, Aaron? See you guys there?

Sounds like good fun. But if your looking for "fair" and "talented" drivers, Steve and I may have to sit it out!! My plan at this stage is to get to Goondi, to do this I have to leave out my favorite race, Warialda, and the stadium....bugger!
Yeah mate it should be a blast. Great to hear that you`re heading up to Gundi though. That track should suit your car. So do you guys know the whereabouts of some of the trucks and stadium buggies that used to be down that way?

We are going to Gundi more than likely. Stadium was'nt planned but might be possible. Bit worried about damage from the stadium (this car is worth a bit more than my cars of the stadium days) , as Gundi is more important. Warialda will missout, as may Milbrodale (3rd time...bugger!). The 'fair and talented' bit does sound scary....since when did that come in to our racing? What cars are the Taylor family using? Would be good to see the stadium trucks back in their element!
Brisbane Stadium Race October 6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You`ll just have to come to the race and find out won`t you!!!
Well there`ll be your old truck, a baja, a southern cross and a TBA.....
And you`re right it`ll be awesome to see the trucks going head to head like what they were designed to do.

Wonder if any of you guys up north could help me out. I'm having a family holiday up at Bribie Island the week before Goondi. Was hoping to bring the race car up with me, and perhaps find someone who has a bit of space to leave the car and spares with during the week. If you can help please contact me:aaronm@mcclintockbros.com.au
Hey Aaron consider it done. I just spoke with dad and its ok for it to stay there, he`s got a couple of acres on the northside of brisbane, only about 40min from Bribie Island.
