RE: New Car

Well we picked the car up from Brisbane yesterday and we liked what we saw except the unloading agents made the car look like it has more hits than Elvis. It won't be hard to fix as it is only the side panels. We hope to have it on wheels today once we work out the Midboards but the FMS parts look great and we can't wait to try them out. We had the frame looked at by a Cams official and all is well and we would like to thank Nev Taylor as he went out off his way to organise this for us. Anyway we hope to post some photos soon so l must go to the shed to achive this. Later.

Intresting to see it has old style 'A' arms on the front rather than the later wishbone style arms.
Are some builders still using the 'old ' style stateside or is it an older frame?

Yea, it's a brand new chassis. Mike (FOA Owner) likes the feel of that style arm, so that's what he went with. His car is designed to be lighter than most of the Class 1's here, and the arm design plays into that.

I wanted to run the VQ35 in prolite, but they are hard to get and very pricey. The VG30 is cast iron block and probably heavy... plus I reckon you need to be as close to 3.5lt as possible.

Honda 3.2 or 3.5 power ! Proven performance,no overheating issues.

We ran a tape over the new car and came up with a 120" wheelbase and it is 8 foot wide outside to outside of rear hub can anyone tell me how this compares to the class 2 and pro-lite cars over here.

Ours is 115" long, 94" to the outside of the tyres. Its pro at the moment, but will be prolite eventually.

*edit* sorry, 115" wheelbase, not lenght of car!

RE: New Car *with pics on page 2*

Hi l can't get my photos to upload if you want to see the car look at the RDC website shop section new stuff or l will email photos to anyone who might have better luck getting them on this thread.

*edit* Pics attached

BT - note that the file sizes were too big.  I shrunk the pics and dropped the resolution to get them on.

Thanks Garry but l am a gumby with that sort of stuff l need a computer nerd such as yourself to help me out.
As you can see in the photos it is a chromoly FMS frame, FMS Midboards and 2" front hubs, Race Craft seats(FMS), Robby G wheels, all the other smaller parts are from Kartek and last but not least the good people from FOA have sorted me out for my shock requirments.
If you are buying a new frame talk to the guy's from FMS, they have new owners and they want to sell frames ect at a good price. Everything you can see and some parts you can't were brought in for $25,000.00 transport and duties included. We shopped around over here and there a some very good frames to be bought but we were after a car in our price range with all the parts to make it a stage 2 roller and this was the best way to go. The only cheaper way we could get a car to this level would have been to build it all our selves but not having a degree in engineering put us off that idea.
If anyone has any questions about bringing in your own car pm me l will try to help as much as l can.
