Finally after 2 years of being jerked around by a chassis builder in the states with 10 grand of our money and having to get intervention by goverment departments in the states it is out of the jig and we will finally be able to ship it by the end of the month. It is a class 10 frame in chromoly with mid boards, 2" front hubs 30 gallon fuel tank, panels and set up to run FOA shocks. l know you might say so what but l had to tell someone and here are some photos in the jig.
It's been a long time coming and at times if l had hair l would have been pulling it out. We have most things to finish it when it gets here so hoping for Sealake next year to debut the car.
Some questions... Whos building it? What driveline? Engine? Whos midboards?
It is being built by FMS (Frantzco Motor Sports) All hubs by FMS (Midboards & Front) Porsche 930 gearbox. Motor ? we sold the Toyota V8 and want to go Pro-Lite maby Nissan VG30 or Mitsubishi. FOA coilovers and bypass shocks. BTR beadlock wheels. Cowie rack.
Does anyone run the VG oe VQ30 in pro-lite and if so what do you think of it. 100KPLUS runs a Nissan now is it the 30 or 35 because what l have heard about it it goes quite well.
I wanted to run the VQ35 in prolite, but they are hard to get and very pricey. The VG30 is cast iron block and probably heavy... plus I reckon you need to be as close to 3.5lt as possible.
The frame and extras are complete now and are ready to ship. We are hoping to get it on it's way next week. Here are a few more shots of what we will recieve.
A few tips for you with the shipping to try to avoid problems with quarantine, etc:
* Make sure everything that they put in the container is clean, including parts, etc. * Try to avoid using any timber for any sort of bracing, etc unless it is treated and you can get a correct treatment certificate to prove this. * Make sure that whoever packs the container for you provides you with a packing declaration, which is a document required for quarantine here. YOu can get through without it, but it may lead to extra costs. * If you are bring in any tires that are not on rims, there are lots of things you need to get them through AQIS. Let me know if you are and I will give you some more details.
If you have any queries let me know and I will try to help you out.
After being mucked around by customs for 2 weeks we will finaly be able to go to Brisbane and pick the car up on Friday. We are hoping it will all be there and will post some photos on the weekend.
Only in very rare circumstances do customs hold up a shipment for that length of time, unless there were problems with import permits, etc.
I deal with customs every day of the week and never have such problems. Did the people clearing it through customs for you tell you what the problem was?
l don't think our car was the problem but it was packed with 3 other road cars. It was x-rayed and then was unpacked at the wharf checked and repacked and then released then sprayed ect so it took a bit longer than we expected.
This isn't an Aussie car, but it's a new one for us anyway. Custom single seat Chenowth chassis, Albins transaxle, 600hp LS2 with our custom intake valves (valves let the motor have over 400 lb.ft. of torque at 1100 rpm!) series 30 axles, FOA/Bilstein suspension, Tons of the stuff we have made ourselves...the axles, hubs, and more to come. Now if we could just find time to put it all together....
albins box, pwr rad... could be mistaken for an aussie car if the gear stick was on the right side of the driver! errr... by that I mean the left side!

Yea, I thought you guys would like that! I almost reversed the interior pic just to mess with you.
Motochris Intresting to see it has old style 'A' arms on the front rather than the later wishbone style arms. Are some builders still using the 'old ' style stateside or is it an older frame?

I thought all the chenowths were semi-trailing A-Arms? IE little camber gain etc, but considering rentch and chappo both run those front ends there cant be too much wrong with them!

I never said either style was better. The reason I asked about the age of the frame was to ascertain if builders were still using the 'old' style which would prove this design still had its merits.
I reckon its got its merits - stronger for less weight as less bracing is required and more room in the ****pit for starters! using semi-trailing you could build a lighter chassis too I guess.
