We have two great race tracks in NSW milbrodale and warilda. In my eyes. So if we put sealake as the other track this would make a great series. Then make it the east coast championship.
Been a while since I've heard anything about the privateers cup (mind you, I havent asked anyone in an official capacity either!), is it coming our way for '08?

Yes WOLF the East Coast Tri Series has been running for 20 years and it is a very good concept where you run for driver points and for club points. (It precede the NSW Championship series) I hope AORCOM are careful about the name they chose, if they support this series I would fully support a true East Coast long course series over events like Milbrodale-Wittitrin-Warialda. I can't get the concept of this other proposed series, there is no support for it in our area. If you are good enough and you want to win something, try the NSW Off Road Championship. Don't try to design something that allows you to win by default. I think AORCOM have responded to a minority of vocal people!! (It is good that they have reponded)

Hey Maurie, cheers for clearing up the Tri Series stuff.
As for the new series, I heard quite a few people say theyre planning on running it - you nominate 3 national events and run just those events. Top stuff I reckon and as if you're running gundy, donald and mildura (our planned events) you could be in a points race with someone running hyden, finke and pines so I dont reckon its a championship you could win by default.
I'd also back a true east coast or NSW long course championship that runs at more than just milbrodale - a bit more prestige and an actual true championship.
Mind you alot of selfishness in it too as Rick will be driving 3 national events and I'll be running the 3 NSW 200km events!

CONFEDERATION OF AUSTRALIAN MOTOR SPORT (CAMS) MEDIA RELEASE 21 December 2007
For Immediate Release
TRI-SERIES TO BOLSTER AORC IN 2008
The Australian Off Road Commission has confirmed the introduction of a new 'Off Road Tri-Series' challenge for 2008 that will be conducted within the Australian Off Road Championship (AORC).
Requiring competitors to nominate three rounds of the AORC in which they will score points, the series will allow people with limited time and budgets to compete in events which are most convenient to them - whilst competing in a national series at the same time.
The point score structure will mean that any class of off road vehicle is able to participate in the series with a chance of winning a major trophy, either outright or within their class division.
Also in keeping with the philosophy of encouraging more participation in the sport, any driver who has finished in the top 15 outright of the AORC point score or finished in the top three of the Class Championship in the previous year, will not be eligible for the series. This is intended to open up the series to competitors who may not have consistently competed in the AORC in the past.
The 'Off Road Tri-Series' will consist of the following features: * A maximum of three (3) rounds will count towards the point score. Competitors may choose to compete in any three rounds of the Championship. * The rounds in which crews will score points must be nominated prior to each event. * There will be a Class series award, with points scored in the same manner as the Australian Off Road Class Championship regulations. * There will be an Outright series award. * A trophy will be awarded to each member of the winning crew.
Competitors may still compete in every round of the AORC for outright or class awards without affecting their Tri-Series eligibility, but they will only score points for the Tri-Series in their three nominated rounds.
To be eligible, the driver must have registered for the 2008 AORC by applying for an Off Road Competition Number with CAMS. Renewals have been distributed to existing number holders and the application form is now also available from www.cams.com.au under the 'Forms' section for those competitors who do not currently have a number.
Round nomination forms and complete series details will be available from CAMS by the end of January 2008.

I see that on page 5 of last weeks auto action that there was a small article announcing the new "Offroad Tri Series" starting this year, nomination forms and complete series details will be available from CAMS by the end of the month. Good to see they are covering our sport's news not just our results.
You have to nominate 3 national rounds that you want to score points in to be in the tri series, for you it could be Hyden, Mt Gambier and Finke. It could be any national round.
