After another podium result at Mildura, Hayden Bentley has increased his lead in the AORC and only a major upset in the final Round at Gundy will prevent him from winning his 1st Australian Championship. A DNF at Gundy by Hayden, coupled with an outright win by Brad Prout, would see Brad sneak home. That's possible of course, but it looks highly likely we will be crowning a new champ at the end of this year?
Either way, we will be crowning a new champion, neither Hayden or Brad have the won the Championship before, so whoever wins, it will be a new champion.
Obviously you would have to favour Hayden.... over the past few years he has been extremely consistent, and the vehicle has been very reliable. I am also sure that he will go to the last round knowing exactly what he needs to do and he will make sure that he doens't do anything silly that may put an end to his hopes.
I have taken that into account already. If he has a DNF at Gundy then that becomes his worst round and he drops that score. I have also taken into account the 1.5 points multiplier for the last round. Doesn't make any difference to my previous statement. The only way he can really lose the AORC now is a DNF at Gundy and Brad wins outright.
