i did know they where fab up by john tower as kelvin said they are excellent and they are now in my shed so i will take a quick pic tommorrow for everyone to see.
well as promoised here are some pics of my new rear arms. i also have the rear bar with all the mounts on it so that will make fitting up the rear end much quicker.
well after weeks of waiting i finally spent some time over the weekend ( about 12 hour) working on the buggy the only reason i stop is i ran out of gas.
i will be away this week but should get more done next week.
any way here are some progress pics and a pic of one of my christmas presents. i'm also getting a model 3 bender in the new year( if we don't spend all the money on our week away).
yes it's great as it all come together but i can only do a little bit more bracing work then i have to wait a few week as i need to get my gearbox so i can finsh the rear end and a bender so i can make the front end and front arms but cant get either till i start working again as my holiday cost abit more then bujected for but should be all good by the end off the month. i don't think i'll be ready for the end of feb but i will keep at it as i will be racing this season.
i will post some more pics up later in the week of where i get to before i have to put it back on the truck and bring it home so i can tidy the work shop up ready to go back to work on monday.
no more progress i have to wait for more funds for more parts. i have all the bushed and fitting to make the front arms on the way as we speak and should have gearbox by the end of the month which will allow me to finish all the fab work on the frame. from there it will be just a matter of how much money i can afford to throw at it for all the bolt on parts (engine, seats, pedals, shocks etc etc.)
would love to be ready to race sorra rnd 1 in feb but that looks to be a distant dream. i spend a bit more on my house renos over christmas then i wanted to but they are now far enough along that i won't have to do much to seal my house up ready for winter which means more time for the buggy and hopefully more money for the buggy.
i will keep this space update as soon as some think happens
well just a quick update not that much more has happened. after driving down to warren irons today and using his bender which worked out excellent. i returned home with high hope of getting stuck in as bending the tubes was one of two things i require to continue the other was all the front mounts that i left at the machine shop 2 months ago which i told them on monday that i need them this weekend. thay said that wont be a problem and when i got home i saw the pile of 50x50 rhs that i left with them for all the hole to be drilled. but on closer inspection there where no holes drill in any of them there was a note " we ran out of time this week thought you might still want them back so you can drill the holes"
now the funny thing is if i could drill the holes i would have done it and not given it to them to start with. so basicly i'm stuffed.
well after a night of being really pissed of i went over to the work shop today and made the brackets required . i end up using our magnetic drill (roater broch) to do the 18mm holes and i pully my jd square tube notcher apart and used it with an 1 1/2" holes saw to drill the other holes require (the holes saw is now dead don't think cheap holes are desined to drill 12 holes through 4mm thick rhs)(yes i used cutting oil)
here are the pics of what i did yesturday i think it came up ok. also pic of the un5 box i brought from ian fish. just a have to fab up the adaptor plate to mate to a kombi bellhousing (i'm going to borrow kelvin hills and copy it.) also a pic of the tube bent up for the front arms and one of all the bungs and the 2 lower uniballs. just have to wait for some more cash then i will get the rest of the hiems and build the front arms.
i have been busy renovating my house it's getting cold out here in orange and i have had no ceiling and no fire for the last few month so now i have to pull my finger out and get it done .
i will get back to it some time in the next few months.
well not much has happen but i now have th rest of the hiems on there way with the front 2" spindls (using jimco ones) so hoping this week to get the front uprights made with the spindles mounted ready for the fron hubs/brake in the next few week when i get some more cash.
for all those that knew that i brought a $200 toyota 4vzfe 2.5 lt v6 well the other weekend i decide to check it out so i pull all the inlet gear and cam covers of to find that the inlet was full of oil and it also appears that it has had water sitting in with the cams so it has gone to the scraper. (so much for find a cheap engine)
any now i'm on the hunt for another engine (only looking have no cash).
i have found a 3.5lt pajrio engine running a halteck e6x and i can get it for $1800 and it still in the car so i can test drive.
just want to know what people think about this as an engine choice i would have to haggle abit to get the guy to hold it for a few week but would bit be a good engine to put in a buggy.
Sounds like it's all coming along nicely, is the Pajero engine the quad cam version? If so there plenty of guys getting big horsepower out of those with the aid of some BOOST!!!
