Does anyone no much about the Subaru 2.5 naturally aspirated engines pros and cons. We know they are 1lt under pro-lite rules but we think all you need is to get to the end to get a result and are hoping that the 2.5 could do that. Greg Harris in the Raptor is happy with the 2lt toyota (when he can keep it running) and we are hoping that the suspension package we have will keep us up with the beam cars. The biggest reason to build the new car as a Pro-lite is the bloody thing is too big and will cripple a 1650.
Dont know much about the 2.5ltr, but if your thinking subaru, I reckon you should go for the 3.0 or 3.3ltr versions. I see Buzzards trying to stir me up again, but I am going to stick with the scoobie engine for a bit longer...if I can be bothered working on the buggy!
hi, the scobies ar'nt to bad, but the sump sits pritty low and may need mod's, and the exhuste is prone to a bit of damage, i've had a fair few apart, there well designed, with all the fruit you would fitt to an old school engine standard. a few mods never go a straigh though.

Well old mate its 2008, Have you resolved the thermal distress issues?
Jones, did you have any luck with your overheating? I had a Subaru in at work recently that was overheating, it ended up having a blocked heater core. Just wondering if you have blanked off your heater outlets. We just ended up joining the heater pipes with a length of hose & problem solved. The heater pipes must have to flow to provide proper cooling.
i belive that the heater circuit is also as the bypass circuit , which may have caused the over heating, but in saying that , the subi's that anth fan had the haeter out lets blocked off , though we once tried it with a thermostate and it over heated , pulled out the thermostate and it was good as gold.

Sorry, only just read this post. Buzzard...2008 will be very quiet for me, just bought a farm out here, and looking for government subsidies to run the buggy. (Is that covered by E.C. grants?) Stingray...Greg Campbell does,nt have overheating issues, so maybe I have an engine problem, I will fit my spare engine and try it. Unfortunately buggy will be parked this year, no Donald etc, maybe a crookwell....if I can be bothered spending a weekend getting it going! KMD & Trekka...Gregs car was very impressive at Mildura, gives me some hope!
Wolf...not giving up the spanners, just bought a farm for more things to do on weekends, its about time I started working hard again!!! The farm will grow LEGITIMATE crops such as wheat etc, and may support a good practice race track to keep the fire breaks maintained (should get approx 30KM track).
