Hey Kel, you should come over, you could race the 6 cylinder class if you wanted to, or do the full track. I'm going over to watch (couldnt be bothered taking the buggy). Might have a beer sat night, cheer on the racers sunday, come home with a nice clean buggy still in the shed. Who else is going?
guys i may come down on sunday for a look. so what i would like is some directions to the track i will be coming from orange so diections would be good.
From memory when you drive into town keep driving straight till you hit the main street,go through the first two roundabouts, one set of traffic lights and then turn left at mcdanalds ,then follow your nose.
here is the directions link from google maps. Rick's done the run from Crookwell to Bathurst up this road. He said it is at least half dirt with some good corrugations, though he did it in a starlet with 13" tyres... He reckons you'd be fine in a decent sized car at 80km/h instead of a shopping trolley at 50...
When you hit crookwell you'll be turning right at the tractor place (which is on the left) which is kennedy road, this becomes Graben Cullen Road which the track is on. The track is on the right hand side a few km from crookwell. Not sure how far, but there will be signs up.
But goodluck to all involved, William...keep the interest going in your buggy, crookwell is always a good event. Well done to the crookwell club, they always run the events well, and I'm sure this will too! Wonder whos going to win, guess it wont be Lia, he 'wussed-out' of prolite and went back to 1650's...is Spizzo going?, What about the Allports, have they got some of their new cars going yet? Any new blood going? What about the younger racers (Grants etc)? How many 6 cylinders are going?
i have done a few jobs in crookwell just didn't know where from crookwell the track was. as long as the weather is good we will be there on sunday moring. the dirt road is excellent as long as you drive a landcruiser like me. if you drive a normal car it would be a very bumpy ride.
Hi everyone! Hope to see you all at Crookwell this weekend! Just to answer some of Jonesy's questions - We currently have 12 entries (which is great for 3 days prior). I'm sure there will be the usual 'on-the-day' entries. Speaking of Allport's - Dave is racing and Dad is racing - no new cars yet... No Spizzo yet. No entries from the young guys yet, but at Colo they were talking about coming. No 6-cylinders - our regular 6-cylinder has turned into a class 5. And Dave's flyin falcon has been retired to the backyard. Hope to see lots of you guys down here! It is a great opportunity to come and compete for the Ray Vestey Memorial Christmas Cup, which will be the cup presented for outright winner at the event. Ray was a great mate to a lot of the Off Roader's and this is a fitting way to honour him See you at Crookwell Kristy
Nup - sorry. Car 96 Murray "Farmer" Bignell won the Ray Vestey Memorial Christmas Cup! It was a great day. More results to follow later when I get my hands on them again.
