Fresh air to helmut

What is the rule with the following?
Can you still run fan forced air to your helmut through the visor?

To the best of my knowledge, no you cannot.  This is because visors are made to certain standard, and cutting a hole in them means they no longer meet that standard.

Although I have never heard of anyone being pinged for it. Will happen eventually though.

Trekka273 is correct. Don't bother turning up to a event in the West with a hole in your visor!

I believe that there were some discussions about this at Finke a few years ago., with some people encountering problems.

I am pretty sure if you turned up to a National round now that you woud be very, very lucky to get through with it.

Ok, I can see the arguement as a hole in the visor may weaken the structural strenght and it would not meet the standards anymore.

Is there any cheap methods to over come this problem?

If buying new helmuts is the only answer, where can I get them?
