final drive ratios

hi all , im looking at geting a new crown wheel and pinion ,
i currantly run a 4.57:1 (7;32) with 31" tyres
but was thinking of runing the 4.86:1 (7;34)
with 33/ 10.5 tyres
acording to the ratio calculator there is only a 1 km/h slower  differance
this would help increase ground clearance , and at tight tracks put the 31's on
what are your thoughts. cheers jero

Jeremy, I'm assuming you are going to stay with the 2ltr box and get an Albins C&P? If so I agree with your logic. If you are going to go back to an 1800 box then you will suffer strength wise.

thanks for that, i will be staying with the 2.0l box and will be perchasing an albins ring and pinion,
i've been advised there is a 2-3 week wait till the 7;24 (4.86 ) ratio is avalible,
but im sure we've all heard that before,
