Just a quick word of advice when purchasing a Howe control valve for your rack! There are a couple of different rates of sensitivity for different applications, make sure you get the right one for yours. The number on the end of the control valve idicates the sensitivity eg. 185(the most sensitive) throught to 220 I believe. I have a 185 fitted to my car, which I find very hard to control, particularly at higher speeds. I have heard that the most commonly used is 200....would have been handy to know this when I purchased mine!
Does anybody know if the rate can be altered, or do I have to buy a new control valve?
Thanks REB, have you done one? If you have can a tool like me do it or should I get someone else to do it? I pulled apart the old UMP one I had in the single seater with no problems. I visited the Sweet web site, which suggests that all repairs and servicing should be done by them....unfortunately they are not just around the corner!
Youll be able to do it yourself I dont have one here to look at but if I can remember theres a locking bolt and a internal cap with 2 holes in it you undo I got one in from the states for john but its a 185 as well
Just got a price on a new torsion bar.....about $250-300 Think I'll just buy a new control valve and sell the (no so)old one!
The 185 will probably be OK for JT, after doing some snooping around it would appear that most of the lighter cars (early Jimcos, chenowths and Lothringers) are running them with no problems.
And like a few of my "mates" have asked "Are you sure its not just you Az" .........Na, it couldn't me me..........could it?
For sale, 1 Sweet control valve done about 100kms excellent condition $450.00
