Hornet History

I have a Hornet buggy, would anyone know the history of this make.  Things like where they were manufactured, are they still being made, how many were made, when did they start manufacture, and any other information?
Cheers,
John

I think the first Hornets were made by John Vercoulen and were called a Verco Hornet

With the fore-runner being the Verco Hustler.

the Verco Hustler & Verco Hornet where produced by Leo Vercoulen ( Jhon's Dad )
who is no longer with us.

the later model Hornet was built by Bill Manns ( MR Bug ) I think I have the first 1 off the jig
acording to Morrie from Trick Offroad who helped build it.

hope this help's ?

having just gone through the cupboard in my office and found the 1987 offroad year book, being I think, (don't quote me) the first season my buggy ever raced with Mark Manns at the wheel, even though my log book say's first built 1990

I have owned a Hustler & an earlier Hornet and still own the later one in the pic's bellow

hope this help's ?

I bought steven lunns hornet back in 1993 raced it for a few years until the late 90's (off road year book #5 page 90) (wrong comment on that page also) it was the sister car to Peter Glovers (page #52 same book) i think these 2 and mark manns one would have been the first of that shape from the verco hornet..After Glen Scott had them the went to Jack/john spicer in port maquarie nsw and then to john brand in QLD from there im not sure
My old one is sitting in a shed back in victoria collecting dust and part time paddock basher i heard .
hope this helps a little

Yea mine was log booked 1987
Friz the back of yours looks like the new style that glen scot made for the firefox single seaters they designed and then john spicer used the back off them on the 2 seaters and also lifted the roof height up for added helmet clearence i think they did this around 1992/93 as spicers bought glen scotts buggy and the jigs and moulds. the single seaters went to the hunter valley and became Bullets in 1 and 2 seaters .i think this is correct ??
