Hi guys i am totally new 2 offroading and have been building a edge style buggy with a 1300cc mazda engine (not quite 2 plans) ... Then i found out about u guys.. and am wondering if i would fit into any class as your club looks like a whole heap of fun and would like 2 join ... PLZ help steer me in the right direction as i dont know anything at all about off road racing or C.A.M.S
If your roll cage can comply with cams regs, you will not have a drama.Look up roll cages on the CAMS website,quite a few variations. Pipe size & type is what you are looking for. Give me a ring 040 777 4348 will explain more!
thank you for your reply i read up in cams and my bars are thick enough ( 32mm di with 2mm walls ) all i have to do is add X braceing behind the seat am i am ready 2 go 4 an inpection .. as soon as i finish making some pedals and hydrolic lines 2 the brakes.... hopefully i will be ready 4 the july meeting.. If not i will come anyway.... I am look forward 2 meeting everyone ........ thankx again dave
You'll also need to ensure it complys to the offroad regs - things like lighting, safety triangle, horn etc. More in the cams manual. Roughly wkhere in sydney are you?

Bars are to be a minimum of 38mm diameter x 2.5mm wall. (This will fail it straight away) You need a cross in the main roll bar. At a quick glance I don't think the roof is either wide or long enough.
hi guys after reading up in cams i don't think i will pass at all ... yep renegade my roof is way to small and the roll bars are 2 thin ... oh well i will continue 2 build the buggy for the back yard as it was intended for in the first place just for fun and if funds come up later in the year might look at building something that will pass a cams inspection ... thanks for all your help .. and i will still come out 2 colo for a look in july ......dave
Dave, drop a pm to BSG - he's in the process of building a mini buggy and talking with TORC who are trying to get cams approval for edge type cars for their own racing.
