Odyssey battery mounted in cab

We're running an odyssey batt mounted inthe cab under the navigators knees in front of the seat.  Is there any CAMS reg that says it needs to be covered if its a sealed unit?

It doesn't really answer the question, but on the weekend at the Pines I saw a buggy (can't remember which one) that had a gel battery mounted near the feet and it wasn't covered. It had been passed through scrutineering. I only noticed because it pricked my interest when i saw an uncovered battery, so I looked a bit harder and saw that it was an odyssey battery.

I would be inclined to have some sort of cover over it regardless, more as a way to prevent accidentally hitting both terminals with a spanner or something if working on the car etc.

Here is the Cams manual link.... see page 9. It does not make mention of different types of battery (such as gel batteries), it only says that the battery "must be effectively covered so as to prevent spillage, even in the case of inversion". I think to save hassles I would look at covering just so you dont get repeated questions at scrutineering.

My battery is mounted at my navigators feet behind the foot rest. I have taped up the terminals but othe than that there is no case.

so far I have had no issues with scruitenering.

Having said that it's tucked away from view and woudl be next to impossible to touch whilst strapped into the car. If yours is under the Nav's knees it would be easily accessible.

Can't you stash it up the front near where your engine should be... LOL!!!

Were prob gonna house it in a box built to house the battery and some tools as well.

We run a sealed battery with no cover , just a cover over the positive terminal.

"must be effectively covered to prevent spillage..."

I think that says it all, if the battery is sealed/gel, then spillage is already prevented!
